That is very important because this website is not likely to succeed at drawing visitors or registering new members if people come here and see members being rude to each other and posting profanity all over the place. There are a lot of DRIVER fans who do not want to see f**k sh*t GODDAM b*t*h every time they open a topic to read. They are unlikely to post requests for technical help if some knowledgeable person does not know how to offer his assistance to them without also exacting a toll by insulting them at the same time. As far as that is concerned, if you are unable to share your knowledge without also being condescending toward those who need help, then perhaps you would be doing a greater service to the members of this community by allowing them to remain ignorant and struggle through without your so-called expertise.
You, Dr. Doom, are part of the staff of this website. It is therefore not only ironic, but also extremely unfortunate that you are one of the most impolite members of this community. That is like having a cop who does not obey the law. This matter has been a public relations disaster for us, and that is bad for business. I wish you would think about that and ask yourself just how you might be able to set a better example for those rank-and-file members upon whom you seek to impose standards that, up to now, you have been unwilling to conform to. That would probably be very helpful to this website. That is what you want to do, right—help this website?
Another thing I do is donate money. I have been doing so for years. This website set here totally defunct—completely inoperative—for a long time, months, toward the middle of 2008. I got in touch with madness, and offered my support by sending him $$$, after which he replied that due to my interest in donating, he would open the forum again. Unfortunately, things never really amounted to very much since then except for this forum, which many of its core members have been handily undermining the success of ever since.
Dr. Doom, I have already paid tribute and expressed my gratitude for your work on the forum theme or whatever it is called, which I have tried to compliment with the look of the new web pages. But except for the forum, not much has been done to genuinely improve this website for years. So, the code for the web pages is poorly done. Big deal. It is a hobby, this place. We do not get paid, we pay to do this. It is almost bizarre actually, that I pay money so I can come here and be insulted and watch people ruin what the boss has made for them to enjoy. I do not claim to have coding skills. My skills are basically copy, paste, rename, and delete . Let me see someone else who only knows that much get this far with things.
Oh, yeah, we do not see that because no one has been willing to take the time to do it. People are evidently too busy posting a lot of prickly know-it-all comments and insulting each other, which does not help our public image one bit.
When I joined the DMC, one of the first things said to me was, “You sh*t-bag moron,†by someone who seems to have about as much social grace as you have, Dr. Doom. What if I let that bother me, the way it probably bothers others who visit this website and then never come back because of the atmosphere that has been cultivated here by people like you? Well, let me see. I would never have sent the money to madness that got this forum started back up, and he might have just lost interest then instead of doing so anyway the following year.
And you would not have a place to sit there on your keyboard typing childish bratty things to people for no good reason, making not only yourself look bad, but the rest of us as well by association. I think it is a drag that there are probably people out there who think of the way you act here and say to themselves, “The moderators at Driver Madness Network are a bunch of jerks.â€
Now that I have formally been included in the staff, for however long that lasts—and I assume nothing—my reputation is inextricably linked to your unseemly conduct. Thanks a lot, man. I appreciate it.
I feel the need to stand up for what I believe. From what I have seen around here over the years of reading messages, it seems that people have no difficulty at all determining what kind of behavior is unhelpful or unacceptable. They spend a lot of time pointing this out as it pertains to others, just as I am doing now. So it is from those observations of what people post here that I can only conclude that what I am standing up for is nothing different from what all of you who are more outspoken about such things actually believe in yourselves.
The only real question is what are you going to do about it? Are you—any of you to whom these remarks apply—are you going to practice what you preach and help right this ship or continue trying to steer it into the rocks?
Dr. Doom, if you want to help improve the web pages, then be my guest and I will be only too willing to express my sincere gratitude. Good luck to you, and thank you for looking at the forum menu bar code for the boss. I do not even know where that stuff is in the website files. So, there is not really anything I can do about it. Otherwise I would try, and I would do so without being unpleasant about it.
Try it out sometime. Treat other people the same way you want to be treated, especially our guests. It might make you feel good. And even if it does not, it is still your job.
Miller wrote:No need to inform me if this or that is not coded properly. Everyone already knows that and no one really cares unless you are also going to offer to fix it. Just let me know if something is not displaying the way you think it should, which is a slightly different and more pertinent matter.I am not the most conspicuous member of the DMC. But I do what I can to help make this website successful. One thing I do is try to bring eyes to this forum. I started doing that as soon as I joined by writing a story that is one of the most viewed topics here, if not the most viewed. Another thing I do is try to be pleasant, even to the ones here who do not rate such a courtesy, if their own conduct is any measure of that.
