Personally I really like listening to absolute silence and some natural sounds interrupting it - wind, birds, water... It's soothing.
A propos silence... There's some nice shoegaze band from my town of origin. Unfortunately, there isn't any upload with studio version of this track, however, it sounds nearly exactly the same like this live:

Well i don't know if you listened the music i put monday, but it has been sampled by The Prodigy in "Firestarter" at 1:03 (Direct Sample of Hook / Riff).
