I didn’t even know they still made westerns, but I guess they do, since I keep seeing ones on the tube that have been recently made. I guess most of them are made for TV movies, but I don’t know. Some I’ve been watching were obviously originally theatrical releases or whatever.

I was having some beers with this dude a couple weeks ago, and he had just subscribed to digital cable with like a million channels (slight exaggeration perhaps). He had more than one television channel that showed nothing but old cowboy movies. We sat there all day checking some out. This is like one of those guys who actually has a framed portrait of John Wayne on his living room wall. LOL!

I actually thought that the theatrical version of Kingdom of Heaven was garbage but then I bought the director's cut with the additional 50 minutes, my outlook of the entire film completely changed-it's awesome.

Oh, you know what, man? I was looking it up after you said something about it, and the version of Kingdom of Heaven that I watched was the short one, so I have to thank you for the heads up. I definitely need to get hold of that longer version and view it.

I really think that all movies should be at least three hours long, except for the ones I don’t care about watching. They can make those as short as they please. And musicals, I guess, which always seem to me to be some of the best assembled films.

On that note (oh, that's a pun, and I didn't even mean it), I like all of the stuff with Julie Andrews in it, especially The Sound of Music and Thoroughly Modern Millie. It's okay to admit that, right? Man, now I'm afraid to post a reply about what kind of music is my favorite.

Those Lord of the Rings movies were killer.

They still make westerns. A few theatrical films have been released like "Open Range"(very good) and "The Proposition"(not so good) and lots of tv movies have been made, One that comes straight to mind is Robert Duvall's "Broken Trail". The channel your friend has might be Lonestar, in canada it's part of the digital cable package and it airs only western movies and tv shows.

Yeah, the director's cut of Kingdom of Heaven is better and if you want to know, the extra 50 minutes is all character development with no additional battle sequences.

3 hours is a good time for history/drama/mob films but sometimes it just makes more problems(look at Alexander, they cut about 20 minutes from the theatrical version for the rerelease of the DVD)

Lord of the Rings is good and I really want to get the 12 disk trilogy set because each film has an additional 40-50 minutes and there's a ton of extra's.

Concerning upcoming films, I can't wait for "The Battle of Red cliff" and "Driver" Red Cliff especially because I'm a Three Kingdoms fanatic...

I guess I probably didn’t want to know that. LOL! But thanks for saying so. I’m still going to check it out, since I finally developed an appreciation for more in movies besides explosions, gunfights, and car chases.
