technically, in america, the game is rated M, therefore anyone 17 or older can buy it. Not the legal age to buy pornographic material, which would be 18 here in the US.

I agree with you, but the selling of the videogames isn't controlled as the pornographic films, here in Spain, when i was 12 i bought GTA Vice City(rated by PEGI +18). In my opinion in the US there is a stronger control about the selling of videogames and films rated for adult audiences.
Also Driver have to be for mature players, it isn't a game for kids.
In Spain the Driver series has been rated:
Driver 1 : +16
Driver 2: +16
Driv3r: +18
Driver PL: +18
What i hate that now Driver SF will be for younger audiences, a game rated for Teen, that's disgusting for a such cool game(surely that we will not see kickass scenes like the intro of Driver 2, with shootouts, deaths,etc)
It's a shame that a game for Mature has turn out into a Teen game (surely that is a strategy to sell more copies of the game)

Both Driver 1 and 2 were rated "Teen" in USA, so it's seems to be some "back to roots" thing again with DSF.

Here in Brazil, I don't think neither D1 or D2 were rated (perhaps D1 as it was also released for the PC). D3 was 18+ and DPL 16+. We have some weird rating here. NFS Carbon was rated 14+. Hell, even games that are rated "Everyone" in USA are sometimes rated 12+ or even 14+. But no one even cares about the ratings anyway.
