I read somewhere that the limited edition of driver 2 (which came out several months after the original driver 2), is a better version of the game with most of the glitches and faults removed.
Is this true? Does the limited edition play much smoother? Did the developers need to spend more time on the game which bought the limited edition about?

All I heard about the limited edition version of Driver 2 is that it included a soundtrack and some other little things, nothing about improved graphics or the game having less glitches.

Interesting, they actually have the limited edition for sale on the UK Amazon but I believe the disk is PAL region so my old PS1/PS2 can't play it.....damn, I wonder if it's true.

It infact is true, I haven't been able to try it myself, however the FMV's are improved and there are many extra in game fixes.

Why couldn't they do this with DRIV3R.
I'd love to see a revised version of DRIV3R.

Interested in the soundtrack :?:
What kind of tracks where on the soundtrack.
I found some nice tracks for Driver 1 and some free DPL music in the download section. I wonder why there is no music for driver 2.

:(

We can't get them, it's too dificult :? We would need the names (wich are in the manual :P).

I know a site where you have some songs of Driver, Driver 2, Driv3 and DPL but I don't know the address anymore … I'm gonna contact the webmaster, it's the same guy who ows driver-dimension.

I am seriously interested if anyone knows of ANY copy of this soundtrack, or at least some information. The in-game music of Driver 2 is something I have been seeking for awhile. I have tried multiple PS1 players and none are able to find the music files, I am assuming they are in a mass .DAT file. Hell, I've even captured the music from the audio cables while playing, unfortunately low quality. I'd been really interested in seeing/trying this "revised" edition of D2 as well, but if I can get my hands on any form of the D2 in-game music...

Out of the hundreds/thousands of games I have played as a collector, Driver 2 is definitely a top 5 overall, and the music just sets a perfect atmosphere, in-game and published artists' tracks.

Give a look at the last pages of the manual, you'll find the songs of the tracks there. Then search for them on Google. Or maybe LimeWire …

Actually, I've discovered from someone who owns the Soundtrack (did some research) that there is only 5 tracks on it (not stated what the tracks are), but if I'm not mistaken, it's probably the 5 liscensed tracks from the cut scenes =(

Etta James "Down In The Basement"
Sonny Boy Williamson "Help Me"
Kenny Rogers and the First Edition "Condition"
Mozart "Lacrimosa" beautiful
and another I cannot remember off the top of my head...

Unfortunately, that means no in-game. All of these songs can be easily found anywhere, stores, download clients...even off of the actual disc of Driver 2 with a PC component. WE WANT THE GOOD STUFF IN-GAME!

More bad news: I've tried multiple occassions to locate and find the in-game music through the CDs, but they are stored most likely in a mass .DAT file because they cannot be singled out with a program like PDL.

Good news: I am attempting to contact Allister Brimble, the main man responsible for the in-game music of Driver and Driver 2 (the guy's a genius). It's been noted from someone else who has talked to him that he has deleted his final work/product from Driver in his storage, but did not say whether or not he has deleted the Driver 2 work. I am following up on this lead as Tanner would lmao. If all else fails, I will stop at nothing to find some possible way to rip it from the game disc or simply plug the audio cables into a PC recorder, play through the entire game again, and capture everything (would take a few weeks, not to mention all the editing). Just getting "Chicago: Night" would be worth it...but I would want to get everything ^.^

Sounds great, you have content to ex employees or is he still working on Reflections?

Sounds awsome anyrate... :)

Anyways I might emulate the game on my pc and start copying some of the music in the future, if you end up starting it just say so and then I won't worry about it.

Would be cool if you would add them to the music player later.

I noticed that there is

Driver 2
Release Date: 17 Nov 2000 (UK)
Driver 2 Platinum
Release Date: 5 Oct 2001 (UK)
Driver 2 Limited Edition
Release Date: 12 April 2001 (UK)

I would think the Platinum would include the same fixes/improvements.

I'm not sure what made me say that but it could be untrue.
We have to remember Moby Games, can be edited by anyone like wikipeida. We need to find some more sources to work out if this is true or not.

I'd like to be able to get my hands on both, but it could be too late now.
Unless I find something second hand on eBay.

If only it were Driver: Parallel Lines, the limited edition was so easy to get.
I don't think I've seen a non-limited edition Driver: Parallel Lines Xbox, PS2 in store.

Yeah, Playstation seems to call it the Platinum range and Xbox calls it the classics range.
Coyote wrote:Do you think ? Confused I have the Platinum Version.
Only popular games get in the Platinum or Classics ranges.
Since the Platinum release was after the Limited Edition it would be silly not to include those bug fixes. Probably 50% of the market has the fixed version. If such a version exists.

But there's also the Greatest Hits range, for USA games, and also the "The Best" for the Asian market.

Well I have most driver games more than once. Like I have DRIV3R on all platforms. GBA, PC, XBOX, PS2, Mobile (Each version has a slightly different experience) But same content.

I guess it's really pointless, but if the next version is slightly different and you play the game a lot it's worth it.

I pretty much own all the driver games on all there platforms.

Driver 2 (GBA) and Driver 2 (PS1) have a similar storyline but feel like two very different games and of course I can take it with me on the potable game boy advanced and once I get home I can play the higher quality version on the PS1 (or emulated on the PC).

With driv3r I get an overall better experience on the xbox version, but I also own the portable GBA version (reason explained above), the pc version to modify, easily take screenshots and videos, and better graphical quality in some situations. My last purchase was the PS2 release which was a little disappointing for me.
