Sorry to bother anyone,

FilePlanet hosts two links "Driver v2.0" & "Driver Patch" but neither are mirrored.

Multiple other websites host the 2.0 patch, but all are linked back to the GT Interactive website (now archived, no longer available). Guess I'm stuck, unless someone here has a game.exe they could possibly email me.

Actually, I'm having no mechanical problems playing, it's v1.2 and everything works fine, except for the music. Even all the FMVs play with the disc in, but still no music. If I can't hear the music playing this game, might as well not play at all, I love Allister Brimble's work on this game. It's like ying without the yang, Driver without music. Whenever I adjust the Music On/Off setting, be it main menu or in-game menu, it immediately goes back to Off, where it is preset. I'll change it to On, go back to the Menu, then go back to Sound right away, and it's shifted to Off again...*plays Driver PSX until someone can save the day*

Having the "Please insert CD-ROM" problem after the installation of both, gotta figure out how to fix that too.

All I'm trying to do is to get the game to play the music, I never knew it would be such a trial.

I have tried the CD-ROM patch that has been posted before I applied these two patches and that only corrupted the game. I will try applying it now, and pretty much anything else I can think of. Hell, none of these patches are probably gonna get the music to play anyway haha

I am assuming it's because the hosted CD-ROM patch here is a UK patch. I receive "Lang? Missing?" for every line of text. Still searching...

from what I have read I believe you have tried these patchs.

From what I can see you want a patch which will make the music play while playing the game. Unfortunately this was never a known problem, as far as I'm aware with the versions I have used.

I'd suggest you to try and put the games disk in a music player and track 1 won't work but the other tracks will and you should be able to hear the songs that way.

If you still cannot get the sounds to work why not download the PC Soundtrack Then you can play them in Media Player while your playing driver.

If you have put the disk a a cd player and it doesn't play maybe the disk you have didn't include the songs and the game is looking for the songs but it cannot find them. Then a patch will not fix this.

If you want to get the game back to it's original state you'll have to re-install the game.

If I can be anymore help feel free to ask anymore remaining questions you may have. I'll be happy to answer them.

I suppose I could try buying a different version of the game, the jewel case one. I thought I would bypass all of this by buying the original boxed one, released in 1999/2000 (I've heard all about how Direct2Drive and possibly the newer Atari release have skimped out some stuff). Could be my computer's sound driver. *sigh*

I've read all kinds of forums though that describe not being able to switch the Music to ON. It constantly reverts back to OFF as soon as you go back on the Menus. It's like the game is just saying "No, you can't have the music on". WTF haha. I've read all kinds of posts but everyone replying never seemed to have an answer. I don't get it...maybe our (music lacking) CD-ROMs never had the music built in. Retarded. Some people have CD-ROMs that DO have the music though. One fellow stated he had full running music from all 4 PCs he installed the same CD-ROM on. I guess it's the only way to explain it. Gotta buy another one maybe >.>

I've tried playing it inside different CD players. I don't believe this trick works with any old CD-ROM though. Confirmed or not confirmed that certain Driver CD-ROMs play the music through a CD player, I cannot get my CD-ROM to play any music. Each CD player only recognizes the first track, the .DAT track. That is the only track present. I guess I'll try installing on different PCs and then probably eventually buying a new copy.

If ANYONE does not have a problem with their music playing, please read me the date in which the CD was produced and possibly any other information. Mine is (c) 2000 Infogrames. Music does not work and cannot be read in a CD player. If I can get a name and date of a working copy, I will seek that one out.

In your other thread I think you mentioned you found a copy that worked. Not to sure about that though.

Anyways I can ensure you Direct2Drive doesn't offer the music.
I haven't achually tried it, however I am pretty sure this is the case because the game is only about 50MB (AND) the music can only be ready via. a AUDIO track from a CD, this wouldn't be the case if changes within the programming were made however this is highly unlikely.

I know I have a working copy and whenever I can find it I'll post a picture of the cd it's cover and some more information about it.
