madness, in another tech support topic, wrote: After talking a look at your PC's specs, they in fact look pretty good. There better than what I used to have and driv3r used to work fine after some fine tuning.

So I'll go through a bunch of suggestions...

Suggestion 1:
Make sure you have the latest driver patch installed. You can download the latest patch by Clicking Here

[Now try driv3r and see how it works]

Suggestion 2:

Delete the temporary files from your computer:
Click Start > Run > type %temp% > OK > click Edit > Select All > Delete.
Man, is it really safe to delete everything in that folder? I just love to delete stuff. There's like about 292MB worth of stuff in C:\DOCUME~1\my name\LOCALS~1\Temp. So, it's okay to get rid of absolutely all of that, then?

yep! it's safe.
All these files are files which your computer puts there temporary.

For example you put in Driver: 3 to install it, it uses this space to extract the files on the cd and then installs from the temp folder and once installation is finished the files can sometimes be left there or they get deleted by the installer.

Driver 3 doesn't install that way but some programs do, so basically your just going to delete stuff you don't need.

Cool, man. Thank you for the reply. I hate it when 300MB sounds like a lot of space. LOL!

yeah, well right now I just have over a TB of hard disk space and 300MB is nothing. But to some people with smaller 20gig and 40gig hard drives this can be a fairly large amount when your preserving such space.

So here is the deal...
I have just over 1TB of space.
That is equalivant to 1000gig of space.
and 1000gig = 1000000mb
and that's a lot of mb compared to 300mb. :P
So 300mb is the last thing I worry about.

However clearing out your Temp files allows your hard drive to access that temp folder a lot quicker I think and that's why it's best to delete the files there.

Yah, sure, rub it in. LOL! I’m a small-timer, to be sure. Not big time. 300MB enough for Driver install looks like (heh-heh). Not for that ISO image thing I had to make for my Driver2 disks, though. That's a pretty good little chunk of HDD space there, man (for a small-timer). Wasn't expecting that.

Since I came here—and even more so since you switched from one web host thing or whatever to another after that—I have wondered how much space this place takes up, and how someone such as you goes about managing the data storage and backing it all up and stuff.

Aw, I gotta go. Thanks for the replies to some message and questions, boss, and again for your help with the new Driver Stories area. That’s pretty cool.

I ran into a post in here again tonight from a while back, where somebody was saying that Driver Crew had “lots of mods” for Driver (I assumed Driver1 since it was in that area—l think, anyway). It looks like they have activity going on over there, but I can’t see content. So, I registered as Miller there, too, to see if being logged in as a registered member makes a difference in what you can see. That’s the place where they have a section that says Driver Stories. You know, that place.

I don’t see much content at CarLuver69’s website, but it looks like people say stuff to each other or something or do something there. Do you have to register there to see his pages of stuff, or is his place still pretty much under construction or what?
