You tried using a new model with the vertex fix, didn't you? Models imported with the old importer by SOAP do not work in the vertex fix, as it needs additional information that is stored in extra files. As for the "lang missing" issue, you can either rename your french files from ".fre" to ".usa" or I could eventually release one that has the language byte set to french. (Maybe I should just add it to the config file.) There are some minor differences between english and french executables, but nothing game changing.

Someone : No new car, i just tried to run driver original. I replaced the level files with original before running the new exe.

- Your advice worked for the langage: now i can read properly the menu in french :)

But still the collision is shutting driver down:

"Application Error, click ok to close"

@someone972: it's in miami and there's not any .pcar file in the level directory.

You need a miami.pcar file, it is in the vertex fix zip file. You should make sure all the pcar and other new files are copied into the lev directory.

Yes once more you are right: my vertex fix version was too old :oops:

Now, everything run nicely with the patch. But it is not as good as i expected since:

- reflexions are still problematic (it this a smoothing group issue?)
- damage texture dont folow the UVW mapping...

for this exemple, i imported a damage .dmodel identical to the clean model, so that the car don't deform on collisions...

Ya, the issue is because it needs to change information in the pcar files to fix those, which the old importer doesn't do. I'm working on a proper importer now, but its going somewhat slowly.

EDIT: I would also not suggest attempting to import higher polygon models in without changing the pcar file, as this will probably cause it to crash due to it reading memory where it shouldn't be.

Sorry for the bump.

I`m asking especially Jeff, is there any tool yet, allowing higher polied cars in Driver? I tried exporting higher polied model, but still, it crashed. Sorry if that has been discussed before, I and Clutch really want high polied cars :)

Dude...he's working on a new importer...which will allow higher poly models. You need to be patient - this isn't easy stuff, you know. We all want the high poly car importer just as much as you and clutch do. But patience is a virtue, and if you can't be patient, well then that sucks to be you.

Oh. Sorry :oops:

The only reason I wrote this stupid post was, since I didn`t really understand how exactly vertex fix patch work, will this allows reflections, damage, etc. Benflex gave us an example of model with reflections (atleast working, not very good, but nice). I was talking if there is possible experiment, exporting car as .obj and using vertex fix loading it in-game.

Sorry once again, I`ll wait. I`m patient enough, don`t worry.
