Hey people! i created this topic so we all can share what we know about the files of Driver 3. Hopefully, it will help some of us modify it? Who knows?

Ok i've been tryin to mod the game for about a year now but didn't get any good results. I can change the color of the weather and switch cars to a different city. What i want to know is if someone ever found info on the mission files? my personal goal would be to have the cops' speed like in survival. So i was wondering if anything could be done.

Btw, if i made this topic like one that has been made (that i didn't see), moderators feel free to delete it.

Yeah, it's actually a very good idea, i always liked Survival mode in Driver series(in Driver PL it cannot be called Survival mode because it totally sucks)

It would be awesome to play in take a ride with those crazy cops(you also could choose any vehicle)

Ok i runed through some experiments and i find out that the "Recordings" Files in "Missions"
are actually scripts, for example:

I removed

M28_CO1
M28_CO2
M28_CO3
M28_CO4

and
M28_CO5

Calita's car didnt move and tanner's car had poor speed.

For M28_B01
M28_B02
M28_B03
M28_B04
M28_B05

im not exactly sure but i will keep testing.

For "Personalities"

Im not sure too becuse:

If i remove something like: mission28 it crashes.

If i rename mission31 to mission28 it crashes again.

so... yea

i wil keep testing for the results....

Maybe i will find how to remove "Mission Failed" script But i think that belongs to the .MPC files.

update:
i found out something vierd

renamed mission31.mpc to mission28.mpc
renamed mission31.dam to mission28.dam
renamed personality file did not crash the game
renaming recordings would not affect becuse they are scripts for the cars that you have to chase

basicly i renamed everything i could find

as a result nothing didnt change and yet i renamed everything THAT i found in missions folder

so the main mission scripts are not in missions folder

You're probably right. But that sucks anyway lol

EDIT: Hey i actually found something! I used a HEX editor to ope the actual .exe or Driver 3 and i found some nice stuff like "pVehicleSpeed","pWalkSpeed" and others. I'm gonna see if i can edit the vehicle speed. I'm excited :P

Maybe that the mission files are in the same way as in Driver 1, one file that tells which mission file should be started, and somehow the numbers can be ignored because of an certain line it seeks for in a certain mission file? I weird guess but who knows.

ok i got deep in the .dam files by game extractor. anyway

opened mission01.dam with game extractor.

extracted files.

opened file that has been extracted (there are 2 of them, one of them is not CHNK type(can be discovered with notepad))
anyway got deep intro that file and:

there are 3 files that are diffrent types(not CHNK)

one contains possibly textures
other models

and third possibly what character has the model (heck i might change tanner finaly intro jericho)

still i will find out if the files of models can be extracted (i will post file types)

these are file types that can be found by game extractor:

.mdpc contains models and textures

.upxd or something contains possibly what model goes to certain character

and some vierd filetype 11117....and so one, this one countains bones and skeletons (can be viewed by note pad)

hopefuly some program can open this files and finaly we can change models :specialdriver:

try unity i know imhotep has been importing stuff into that

while i was browsing thru front.mec hex editor id found that there is third file type belong .mpc and .dam.

Runmission/mission01.mps
this file presumbly contains script files for that mission, NOT mpc file.So mpc file is for starting cutscenes for that mission (rename them you will find out)

i think .mps files are located in missions folder and are made unssen and/or untouchable
