Hello here!

Some days ago I started to work on a IPBFree Forum that I created, simply called Classic-racinG. This forum will be concentrated at the "Golden Era" racing games, that were released from 1989yr to 2001yr (because from 2001 for now, I don`t know any good old school game. Same as the last NFS for me - Motor City Online :) ) and.. of course, there is a downloading sector (empty for now) from where you can download any of the games. I`m in process to finish with the media/modifying/general subforums well-arranged for the each game.

After some days I will post my own mods/official patches/intro videos and such an a complete information with the available tools for the each game, that I have.
Err... I forgot... I want to have a permission to post a link to this great Driver forum, about the Driver: Texture Editor, SOAP`s Import/Export tools and the other great stuff and tools that can be useful and found right here :).

The forum is accessable from here. There is beta version running, almost default and incomplete.

Anyway, thanks for stopping by! :specialdriver:

-EDIT-
Because of some problems, I`ve created a new forum, simply named "Racing Madness". It will be the next forum in Madness fansite line! I`m sure that you will like it more than the first, because it`s running more advanced forum structure and has better skin.
If you are remembering playn` one of the best racing game classics ever, join here!

no, i mean to play a classic racing game, like old NFS or Test Drive, but i think that we would need a server to play because mostly of those games today don't have online support, i always wanted to play a classic game online, NFS 3 for example is way better than the new ones

Totally agreed. But at first we need a DOS emulator for the TNFS and Test Drive 1, 2 (the Duel) and 3 (which is almost using 3D DOS feature). And.. yeah, server and a lot of things which will cost a lot.

After all, now (how said before) I`m in very long process to create a Game RIP`s for almost the classic racing games from the category list (which is unfinished). Need for Speed II SE RIP is near complete (uploaded on MegaUpload for now, later on Google or Ucoz :wink: ) with added 3DFX Glide feature, but with exception for the Audio files, which where deleted, because of the archive`s size.

You forgot Need for Speed: High Stakes and Test Drive 5 :wink: ?

Well, I`m having Windows XP SP3, which I`m running at 16 bit colours, at the best performance settings. Before some time I think of pre-installing it at Windows 98 SE (because my old computer with it on, was fatality died :cry: ).

These games runs perfectly (with no bugs and lags):
Test Drive 4;
Test Drive 5 (in 3DFX voodoo2 mode with glide :D)
Test Drive 6;
Viper Racing;
Need for Speed II, SE (in 3DFX mode, again with glide)
Need for Speed III (3DFX)
Need for Speed High Stakes (3DFX);
Midtown Madness;
Midtown Madness 2 (perfect!)
---- and a lot of racing games such as A2/London Racer, Destruction Derby, Tank Racer, Re-Volt...----

So... if someone is interested (and is racing maniak!), can visit my forum for mods, official patches and so on (when uploaded).

With NFS 4 i've meant NFS 4: High Stakes, some games maybe run with the compatibility mode (i didn't tried)
Midtown Madness is an awesome game, i loved cruising the city speeding with a Mustang

I`ve successful finished with some of the forum`s categories and, of course, a new short domain is active as dot.tk. Check it out here.

Well I`m fully supporting the idea to use something as a banner with the other madness sites on each madness forum :) . I`ll check for available javascript code, so bb, can you put the javascript here, when you are finished with it?

Also, OldGamer, you might need actual access to the site's code and file manager, which free forum hosts do NOT provide. You will have to actually sign up at a web host, but if you still want IP.Board 1.3 (free), I have it and you can use it.

Thanks T.K. but, actually I don`t need it.

Well, iPBFree`s CP isn`t the easiest one, but it`s placed at web, not in my computer as a program and so on, which is very important for me. Also it`s not very easy to change site`s code, but it`s impossible. Now I`m looking for secure and fast web hosting, because google sites doesn`t do it very well...

Use ATBHost. I'm using it. Very reliable (this time for sure)

atbhost.net

Also, it has plenty of forum software that you can install easy from a script installer in the cPanel.

Thanks again.

For now, I don`t need ATBHost or any another host necessarily, the only thing I need are active users. Also if anyone wants to write any suggestions and to help me with the forum, can do it here.

I`ll be not active in the next three days, because I`ll go on a holiday to Greece 8). But I`ll be pleased to hear something from you!

I do not have many racing games. I mostly play WWII, Star Wars, and mechs. I have not played online for a long, long time (years). Earlier this month, I had a guest over to my house to jam some vid for the first time in I do not remember how long. We played MOH:AA over the LAN thing using the jvbot mod that is so great for coop mode in MP objective maps against bots. That is funny when they pick up your grenade and chuck it back at you or kick it back at you. LOL

We also played NFS:HS (4), which works fine on my XP rig without any compatibility mode. Well, you have to run it in compatibility mode one time because game settings will not save unless you go in there and set it up in compatibility mode on WinXP, as far as I know. After that you just switch off compatibility mode and enjoy. While in compatibility mode, my game runs like a snail, but it goes right back to functioning smoothly after the settings are saved and compatibility is switched back off.

There is a mod that makes it work on WinXP. I do not know if it interferes with Internet play, this mod, but it causes no difficulty when I play a LAN game with my WinMe PC. By the way, when I tried to host a game on one PC that had a car in there that the other PC did not have in there, the two PCs would not hook up for a game until I had the same exact cars in both PCs, and this was when the car in question was not even being selected for use in game by either PC.

From a readme thing (I do not know who the author was):

The file called NFS4HS_V4.50 is a No CD hack, not necessary
for running the game on WinXP, and may interfere with
multiplayer game functionality. Just use the disc.

Once you have the two files (v4,5 patch and nfspatch10
for graphics acceleration in Win XP) downloaded,
· Run a FULL Install of your NFS 4 game and make
sure to turn off all unnecessary programs running in the
background, including your Antivirus software.

· After the Game has been Installed, go to your Need
For Speed High Stakes/3dSetup folder and run the 3dSetup
program and select D3d device 1 - don't worry if you get a
message that tells you that it is an unsupported by game.

· Then install nfspatch 4.50...it will ask to overwrite
some files and you have to answer yes.

· Then install nfspatch10 and when it prompt for which
file you want to install you have to deselect nfs4 dll - instead
nfs5 dll must be selected.

· The next prompt will ask you to select nfs directory....if
you do not remember then select BROWSE, search for it and click install.

· After that you have to go to graphic card 3d installation of
nfs and recheck that card is always d3d device 1.confirm with ok.
Than start with double click on desktop icon without any compatibility mode.

p.s. use compatibility mode only for error of invalid win32 application.

My notes : (not Miller's notes, but from the same readme thing)
· This procedure can be useful to people that have ati radeon 7500/8500
cards or Geforce because and game when was started return to desktop without
enter the game.

· nfspatc10, the NFSHS Fast Graphics Patch, is a patch that increase
graphic cards performance.....not in speed but in capacity of elaboration of graphic card.
In some old pc such as celeron 500 i have discovered that this patch increase speed of game.

Sorry, DMC, if that post was not necessary or helpful to anyone, but only clutters up your topic instead. Just delete it if you need to, and allow me to offer my apologies for the misunderstanding. Hey, good luck with your classic racing website and your racing adventures.
