Modding discussion for Driver: Parallel Lines.

There are many files in the Driver: Parallel Lines file structure.
I've taken a look around and have noticed a few things, there are files which actually do thing when they exist and when you delete it the game performs exactly the same.

This leads me to believe the game was developed with a main compiled structure, when the game was recompiled to upgrade the archive integrity it reads these text files and puts them into the main archives.

When these files are present I think the game boots up and recognizes them present and decided to look at their values first.

This is pretty much a guess but a possibility.
If we can understand more about the structure maybe we could re-create these files if this is true, I noticed reflections only left some in the games structure, sure there are probably way more they deleted and they just missed deleting these few maybe and there available for us to edit.

It's most likely impossible to re-create these files however if this is all true it would be nice if reflections could hand them to us!

But in reality we could forget about that and let reflections share some of their compiling tools.

But what exactly can we do with these files ? :?

Yeah, what do these specific files you've found do?
And it's doubtful that reflections would just hand them over to us. Most of us are just kids, and big corporations don't like dealing with us for that reason.

Yes we are kids, maybe a little older.
But with the time some of us have on our hands.
Or the time we would prefer to dedicate to modding the games.

Modding has become such an important part in the gaming industry. Some of the mods I have made really get people out there in the stores to buy the pc version, if modding become so much bigger imagine all those sales.

Modding is becoming an important part of pc gaming as it increases sales, this will explain why I own driv3r on almost every console, not only to see what it's like, I can also try and work out how I can mod the ps2, xbox differently from the pc and such.

I have no idea why they may not provide these tools, but if they don't want to thats fine but is we just have to work out how to create them ourselves. However getting the files I mention is basically impossible.

These files will allow us to access the development menu, online mode and other hidden features and not to forget all those missions they removed from the game during development. It would be nice to unofficially try them out.

then we can use their tools to mix things around, edit them and completely customize the game and if they did things like that, that would be the best method of hiring new developers seeing what they can do first.

I think previous games had a good feature where you could insert the mods in a /mod/ folder and the compile everything into one file from the tools the developers provided.

I remember in Max Payne you could do this and they even provided all the tools they made and used except applications like 3DsMax which have to be purchased from Autodesk however you always have the ability to use free alternatives like Blender.

What ?! Why don't you play online with people who know how that works !? That's crazy, you found the online mode from the Beta version of the game right !?

If you manage, can you post screens, I wish my Computer could push the game so I can try them out but since I cant...

I'm pretty sure we won't manage however there is still some pretty cool stuff I'd like to show you all I'm still working on editing a little bit more.

I also still have a major driv3r project I was working on, I said a few things about it but never said anything big, maybe I will soon and more people will be interested but first I have to write a large document showing how I achieved what I did so anyone else can do it.

Well I have talked about this before but I never made a big thing about it.
Particularity the ability to play a vehicle from any driv3r city in any city.

The ability to port yourself anywhere in dpl which I just released a couple of days ago.

and of course I'll be working on updating the handling modification, and making the massive texture mod.

There are a couple of other things which will remain secret, but I won't leave it a secret too much longer. Because the last massive secret I kept got founded by someone else, well almost... That's where you see tanner lots of times and other things like that.

Anyways thats all I'll say for now!
