Hello everyone,

well i've been trailling through the 1452 vehicle texture files from the nyc_vehicles.sp file & decided to start making sum textures. I like the cop car so thats where i've started. Here are a few screenshots of my FBI skin for the cop car, its a simple skin mainly made for test purposes. Anyway comments & feedback are welcome.

Note: This is a work in progress, should be finished pretty soon.

Wow, this is looking really awesome.
It is also really awesome that we are actually getting some new modifiers into the scene and we hope you continue modifying dpl as much as you can as jay said it's the best way to start up the modding community so it grows until we get some more advanced modders in who can modify other though parts of the game.

I cannot wait to check out your texture mods...
I've also been working on some of my own projects, especially a large texture mod project were my goal is to edit most of the textures in the game, which of course is a very long process.

Also don't forget to check out some of my texture edits for driv3r
Tanner the Dog -This will give you a laugh

and the interesting Modified Handling mod for dpl.

and a mod JAY created Wendy's Burger Mod Manhattan (2006)

You may also want to contribute to the Massive Texture Modification (WIP) when more information is available.

So... keep up the good work!
It's all looking fairly good...
Once your finished pm or email me so we can arrange it to be uploaded to the Driver Madness download area.

Unfortunately you can do really little hacking of the ps2 version.
The main couple reasons we want the pc version released so badly is because we get a lot better quality and improved features. Along with the ability to mod the game, do what ever we want with it, however we are still limited to the tools available and which are compatible with the game.
and for those who don't have a console they can play the pc version.

anyways I cannot wait for your next update.
I thought I may ask which tool you are using, are you using the SL Converter?

Is there anything at all that can be done on the PS2, I have finally convinced my mother atleast to let me use tradme to by a second hand version of the Collecters edition. SO far as i can tell the deal is all square.

Update:

Just a few adjustments made, will be released for download once I write an installation guide.

Adjustments are as followed: FBI writing moved slightly so it no longer looks broke at the door seal, FBI badge added to the rear doors, vehicle ID number added to the rear quarter & the licence plates are now US goverment plates with the same vehicle ID number.

For madness and all those wondering I am using SLConverter to extract the dds files, DXTbmp to extract/import the image as a bitmap seperate from its alpha & Paint Shop Pro 8 to edit the image & MS Paint of course.

DXTbmp is available from http://www.mnwright.btinternet.co.uk/pr ... dxtbmp.htm

I achually might try using DXTbmp, I remember JAY saying something about it previously but I never ended up trying it.

At the moment I use the SL Converter with the photoshop .dds plugin and I use the information file generated from the SL Converter to save it back in the correct format.

But DXTbmp may make the process easier, I'll look into it.

Plus! The mod is looking good. :P

I'm also using DXTbmp for opening the *.dds files. For editing: Photoshop CS2. The Photoshop DDS-Plugin isn't really working for me. I recommend to use DXTbmp, because it's easier to use and not everyone has Photoshop.

Apparently there is a .dds plug in for a really good free photoshop like editing program.

Gimp and it's dds plugin.

That's another alternative.

No offence but the windows look yuck. what's with them, is that something you've chosen or is that what the bulletproof glass looks like. I never saw the point in buying it.
I always thought that that crap on the ram raider was just metal of something.

Hello, I've actually been busy getting back to school.
So unfortunately like the rest of your posts it has taken more than an hour to see them, in this case a couple of days.

Anyways I plan to check back tomorrow morning and tomorrow night. Quickly and then I can do what you want me to do.

I'm thinking your wanting me to upload it for you on Driver Madness and/or try my new method of patching, inserting .dds files automatically without other users having to insert the .dss themselves.

Anyways get back to me whenever we can so we can at least get this organsed.

You can email it to me at madness.productions@gmail.com and I'll add it to the download database within 24hours of the mailing. Also if you want to get it out their quickly you can always use the attachment feature. Just press the post reply button type in your post then go down to add attachment to add the attachment and submit! Anyone can download your mod from this board.

Then I can add it to the download database for public downloading!

Regards,
Driver Madness

I have a question: how can I use this mod on PS2 ? I can't right ? How can I mod DPL (and D3R) on PS2 ? :(

Thanks.

It'd have to be specially made for the ps2 version.
Because the ps2 version would use different file formats not .dds and if for some reason it did use .dds they would be in all the wrong places.

If you have a chipped ps2 you have the slightest chance of modding it.
But no one will make mods for the ps2 because most people won't worry about burning the modded game to a cd every time they want to test it when on the pc version it only takes a minute to test rather than 15-20mins on the console versions.

Emulators could be a possibility, but seriously you still have to mount it as an ISO. So really it's too much work and not worth worrying about.

That really sucks, cause i've been hoping that i could use some of these mods when i buy the game. Shouldn't be long before i get it now, maybe only a week and a half at the most. If only there was a way to copy these mods to the memory card on the PS2 and then load them to the game, is anyone here clever enough to do this or is it impossible?

It's possible, but much more complicated than editing the game for PC. I said that before (several times...): You must own the PC version to be able to use these mods. No one is interested in making mods for a console...Furthermore it's not legal to make copies of PS2 games and using a mod chip. So I guess here will be no more support relating this topic.

No offence taken  thats the tinted windows mod available from the garage & your right they do look yuck lol. I'm currently working on a modification to change the window textures, make them look a bit more pleasing to the eye.
