Discussion for Driver: San Francisco (2011)

...or the lack of it is annoying. I mean, where are the news, gameplay videos, screenshots and so on? They keep only talking about Assassin's Creed and that Michael Jackson game. And the only "news" about Driver is that some of its staff was laid off.

For a company that wants to "restore the AAA status of the series" they doesn't seem to be caring too much about advertising it.

Oh, and don't forget the E3 reveal. I'm pretty sure that the reason for the dislike toward Shift is because of how terribly explained it was and made people confused, and it isn't even fully explained as of now.

Come on Ubisoft! Forget about Assassin's Creed and focuses on Driver (and on a new Rainbow Six too, please).

Totally agree with you, i also wanted to express that in the "19 people are fired from Reflections" topic, it looks like Ubisoft is only Assasin's Creed and nothing more, and the other games are behind a curtain. They give more prominence to Assasin's Creed than any other game of Ubisoft, that annoys me.

If you guys would pay attention to Ubisofts track record this gen you would realize this is the norm from them. They always market there games heavy when their release window is within 3 or so months. Remember how both Driver and the next Ghost Recon were being promoted and scheduled for release in November, they got delayed and then the marketing stopped. Simple really, you market what is releasing soon not a game that might not release for another 6-8 months.

Wow you guys would make such great CEO's with such a mindset, I'm just bustin balls guys but cmon, Ass Creed 2 was the only reason Ubi didn't lose a ton of money last fiscal year and Ass Creed Brotherhood will provide the same results this year. Ubisoft doesn't even have that many strong properties anymore. Prince of Persia has tanked 2 games in a row, Splinter Cell is in limbo, there casual games suck and yield mixed result apart from Just Dance. This is not a company that can routinely operate at a loss. Ass Creed is there money maker and there gonna milk it, that's why its already announced that part 3 will be out same time next year.

Driver is a property that has potential if handled properly but based on recent events it could be just a big waste of money. Seriously when did Ubi buy Reflections, 2006? What have they got to show for that investment? a crap PSP game, a PC port, and 2 crap Wii games. Add Driver SF's massive development time and the recent delays and you could see why the French overlords are currently shoving Driver aside...

That I agree 100% with, if they knew DSF was inevitably going to be delayed then why have a half assed reveal? Another warning sign was the other conferences after E3 like Gamescom, the same footage/feature was shown. A red flag indeed that that something was amiss and that DSF couldn't hit water if it fell out of a f'n boat.

I agree with you. Albeit I was just ranting a bit, they will focus on AC as it proved to be a successful brand. Driver, in the other hand, isn't that successful anymore, so perhaps they are just being careful.

Driver San Francisco goes Classics and Platinum!

Don't know which are the sales to achieve the designation of Classics or Platinum but i've found that for PS2 games
They're games that have sold over 400,000 copies and have been out for over six months

What would they do with another title? Tanner's been through 2 storylines now (Driver: YATW and the one starting with D2), and they're both complete. TK's storyline wrapped itself up and probably won't be brought back, and I don't think Reflections will deal with another new face. And even then, how on earth are they going to top Shift? That stuff is happenin', man, if you'll excuse the 70's lingo.

But you know what? Reflections is a pretty creative team. Shift really surprised me, and the absolute awesomeness of D: SF caught me, too. Atari really hurt the team, I've noticed.

So personally, I think they can pull off a new Driver with an exciting new twist.
