Driver 2 – Vehicle Damage & Impact Rebalance (Experimental Mod)
I’ve been experimenting with REDRIVER2 and PSX data and managed to rebalance vehicle damage and physical impact.
What this mod does:
Rebalances damage multipliers per model via a modified executable (bcollide logic).
Adjusts impact/physics behavior via edited LCF files so heavy vehicles actually behave heavy:
Trucks/buses barely get pushed by small cars
Small cars get thrown back when crashing into large vehicles
Damage is not tied to the impact coefficient, hence the need for EXE changes.
Included:
Modified EXE (Debug build)
Edited LCF files (can be used with the EXE file or standalone)
Fixed EN_GAME.LTXT (required for correct menu text alignment)
Save file (USA version only) – must be used with this EXE
Notes:
Fully playable (all missions completed), but experimental / unstable
A few rare glitches observed (in rare moments), but, nothing game-breaking
EXE + LTXT must be used together, otherwise some menu text will be misaligned
Download + full documentation (README) here:
[MEGA link]
https://mega.nz/file/64oGzaoL#SzANo9f5f ... Dj3iiV3YOc
Installation instructions:
-Use the US redriver 2 version (extract from ISO/ROM and use the launcher from github if you don't have yet).
-Place the executable file (.exe) in the root folder.
-Replace the LCF files (levels folder) with the files provided.
-Replace the EN_GAME.LTXT file (lang folder) with the one provided.
-If you want the save file, use the one provided (it will be possible be in users/.../.driver2 folder, or search for .driver2 folder)
Notice:
Do not use a different save file build, use the one provided if you want a save file, otherwise it may cause important glitchs. If you were using one save file before, check your old save and remove it first.
You need to use the executable provided in the file!
Feedback is welcome.
Feel free to mod it if you want.
