+1

Oh and I remember back in the day when they banned Postal 2 :D
I was rocking the downloaded demo for years (the entire first level with a 10 minute time limit or something)
that was oodles of fun. Then I found somewhere to download it and whalaa I finished the game a couple of weeks later.

I could do the same for Saint's Row IV. But I don't think I'll worry. I'd hate to have to play through the game again to get to that mission they took out.

I was also so close to getting a VPN and purchasing the PC version without the censorship but didn't want to risk Valve banning my Steam account.

Funny story too, Origin isn't as strict when it comes to buying with a VPN. I purchased NFS: Rivals for AUD$5.40 from their sweden store a month back. Cheapest retail version I could find was $20 which expires tomorrow and is a very good deal too but the cheapest I could find on eBay was $45 :/ And if you buy from the origin Australian store it's like $80. Talk about a bunch of EA employees thieving customers. How can they justify Sweden getting it for $5 and Aussies paying $80. It's observed.

Even though I got a good deal, it's a frustrating game. It's all online and it's impossible to pause the game. Even when you force it to go offline, still no pause. Unfortunately I cannot play a game without a pause button because I talk frequent breaks. Every 5 to 10 minutes.

When I bought console games I used to get them from videoezy.com.au, they sell grey stock which is basically stock from overseas. But there not worth it any-more, they jacked all their prices up 30%. I got Watch Dogs for PC for $36 delivered. If I pre-ordered a little later I could have gotten it for $34. But I'm happy with $36 :) Still a great deal, not even CD Key sites can beat that. Only problem is I'll have to wait a couple of weeks after release until it gets delivered but I'm a patient man.

Also mid 2013 I got Dirt: Showdown (PC) delivered from UK for $10. So many bargains to be had online. Only problem is you don't support aussie stores and without them, I dunno less money being spent in Australia. On PC you can get the game anywhere as long as it's not Russian. But with consoles you generally have to get the correct region. On PS3 you can just choose PAL or NTSC. On Xbox I think it's a little more complicated and if you want DLC's it gets complicated again.

unfortunately console games probably won't get as cheap as PC.
They have all the dev-kit fees and fees associated with developing for that particular console.

About 6 months ago I also got Tomb Raider for about $7 from Amazon as a steam cd key :)
That is actually a pretty decent game, I couldn't play it twice but for a non-driving game I've taken quite a liking to it.
For $7 bucks, bargain :) and when it's a cd key you don't have to worry about cluttering you room with game cases it's all downloaded into your steam library.
But as disadvantaged most Australians are with internet it's difficult to re-download games every time you reinstall windows.
So I use the steam backup feature. I copy my origin games directory and copy the install files from uPlay directory onto a portable hard drive and it's all sorted.

When buying on eBay, make sure you check the "worldwide" box and sort by "cheapest + postage". Best way to get a bargain. :) But remember you have to be aware of regions and understand how consoles treat them. But it's never been a better time to not worry about that and become a PC gamer 4 lyfe :) haha

When you come across a game that says uPlay/Steam/Origin Key, I guess you know what that means. :D

Yes I would too hate limits like that if I lived there. I would definitely recommend Ebay to you as well. I'm guessing Carmageddon was banned in your country back in the day :P

wikipedia wrote:In Portugal and Australia the game was passed completely uncut with an +18 and MA15+ rating, respectively.
http://www.refused-classification.com/c ... armageddon

We only recently we got a R18+ rating here in Australia. Before then the game either made MA15+ or didn't exist in Australia (banned).
Now we have 18+, it seems games are being modified for the australian market more often which is very bizarre you think games would be able to be more violent now there is a R18+ rating. But R18+ is the new MA15+ I guess. Many MA15+ games have moved to R18+.

All 3D GTA games where MA15+
All of a sudden under the new system GTA V gets R18+

At least with saints row they took some out of the game, probably instead of being a R18+ game. But I think the board refused classification for everyone because what they wanted in the game must have been that bad. If I recommended correctly they where worried about this alien drug in the game. Might teach kiddies to do lines of cocaine or something.

I see tones of movies which are a lot worse. Games look so fake in realism still and they have restricted them more. I guess games are interactive, and as humans were quite interactive so I guess it teaches.

I just got the parts for my '04 OptiPlex... it's flawless! It plays DRIVER PL at higher settings then my laptop with better performance! OptiPlex specs: Intel Pentium 4 2.80Ghz (Sadly I discovered it can't be replaced with a faster version) 2.5GB RAM (Expandable to 4GB) and a 1GB video card that supports shader model 4.0... Ah I have earned myself $300 from this build  By the way it now runs Windows 7.
By the way postaldude, how do you like your new build?

I updated the YouTube BB code to work a bit better than it did before. All types of YouTube links are now supported, and having parameters in the link will not break it like it did before.

Also gone is the behavior of stripping out the link. Before, it would strip out the actual link to the youtube video itself and leave only the video id, so it no longer does that.

That's been bugging me for the longest time :P

Hey guys you will never believe this... This 10 year old tower running an Intel Pentium 4 at 2.80Ghz plays GTA 4!!! With around an unexpected 17fps! It does jump around all over the place, and when I hang around beaches and in the ocean jump up to 30-40fps. Can't wait until the Windows 7 disc I purchased gets here so I can sell it. Here's a quick video I made with it. (This is not running in real time, this is a pre rendered video for those of you who don't know about GTA IV's video editor.) [youtube]
[/youtube]So as you can see, shadows were turned on low. When I'm out on the beach like that it handles the shadows like nothing, but once I look at or go into the city, reflections and shadows must be turned off. One last thing, be sure to keep track of the amount of money I have earned and spent in my "Occupation", it will quickly climb up to $1000 within 5 weeks.

cool, I never gave GTA IV on PC a chance because of how bad a port it is. You seem to be playing it considerably well. Ill probably give it another chance if rockstar games port the game from gfwl to steamworks. which there is a rumor they may.

I'm hoping they'll do that. I would love to see Steamworks for it. They will either a) port it over to RGSC b) Steamworks c) keep both or d) do nothin' about it.

I'm currently waiting for DiRT 3 to be moved to steamworks. I never purchased any of codemasters racing games before Dirt Showdown for not having a decent digital rights system. It will be great to finally have an opportunity to play it. Too bad DiRT 2 probably won't be ported.

Here is a report on the games moving from GFWL.

There are some games there I will buy because it will be on a decent system. Finally :P

Codemasters have some great racing games, including the first 'GRID' game, DiRT 2/ 3 and some of the F1 games. DiRT showdown should be really called DiRT letdown (because it was to a lot of people)), GRID 2 was a bit meh, and most of the fans from the first GRID were disappointed by it, as they changed the handling a lot (to the point when every single car you drove would drift around a corner) and they removed cock-pit view. However, they're releasing GRID Autosport this June, and it looks great of what I've seen so far as they made it a bit more like GRID 1, in the way the career is set and handling etc.

Everyone says GTA IV was terribly ported and optimized on the PC version. It really doesn't seem so at all. If I can run in it on a 10 year old tower with a single core processor then that's pretty dam impressive. Saints Row 2.. The worst port I have ever used. (System requirements say 128mb video card, and Pentium 4 HT at 3.00Ghz or something) I buy the game with my specs: 192mb video memory, Intel Pentium DUAL core at 2.00Ghz, 4GB RAM, and I can't even get a framerate above 13fps. I think people who fit or exceed the system requirements for GTA IV but can only play at low settings with under 20fps, then the parts their machine is made of are probably too dam slow. (Motherboard transfer rate, RAM speed)

GTA IV could've been better ported and optimized but it's far from worst. I can list a dozen of worse games, starting from Saints Row 2 as you mentioned.

Lol yeah what does Saints Row want a freaking quad core processor and a 2GB video card in 2009? lol. Plus, for vehicles and characters with lower polygon amounts then GTA IV.
