Strange things occur when you do this glitch, if you get into a free roam cop chase after doing this glitch it does it in slow motion, it also makes tanners car disappear and make modern cop cars appear in movie challenges!

Wait, what is your official Youtube channel? Not sure if I subbed the right person.

Damn it's not that easy to have them both happen at once!

Nice discovery so far, still trying.

BTW, I discovered some interesting. I'm not sure if I ever noticed this before, but the police Corvettes also chase the other cars. That's pretty cool! When they do that they're harder to destroy (basically like when they're normal) and they have no "health" bar above them. Sometimes they stop chasing the other racers and start chasing you instead, so a bar appears above them and they're after you now!

I also amused myself placing a truck where the police Corvettes spawn  (the ones where it says it's an ambush!)

Anyway, still trying. Really want to see what will happen to me then, maybe things are a little different. I'd like to try to crash into a cop car while being frozen, you know? However I don't think anything will happen. In challenges that take place in the 70s mode you can loose the cops and the Monaco police cars will be cruising around but if you hit them again they won't chase you.

Also I hate that slow motion cam when you destroy a car. That's so need for speed! It's much better without :)

Still trying…

Oh and also, I don't have that action camera that you have in that activity. Not sure why but in this activity it won't work for me! So it's hard to check wether it worked or not. But we'll see!

It is very difficult to do, I had 3 attempts (must of got lucky, normally takes more goes) until I got it.

It's a weird glitch and I've tried to think of what else I could do to see if the glitch goes further, but I end up taking the game disc out as it doesn't let me control anything or bring up the menu :|
The slow- mo camera is really annoying as for those few seconds you have no control over your car and it can end up crashing into walls and cars. Almost ruining the chase.

Haha I think I needed at least 10 or so. But I finally made!

So here's what happened to me.

First, I never got the ambush camera like you! I mean I do get it, but when I did this little trick that you showed us, it didn't appear. The Corvette simply started chasing me. I knew that something was different because suddenly my car had no sound. I pressed the change view key and this time I had the "hollywood camera"! I also know the reason why the car becomes transparent, it's very simple: it's because you basically changed view, and the game thinks your inside the car, so it doesn't bother displaying the actual car. If you change the view of the car you can decide if your car will be invisible or not, press it a first for 3rd person (you will see the car), a second time for hood (you will still see the car) and a third time for bumper. Now the car will disappear, but you will still have the 3rd person view because of this glitch. I'm not sure where cockpit view has disappeared BTW.

I then started various challenges. The strange camera in the beginning always changes for me. Sometimes I'm somewhere super far away or under the map even. Finally I went for the Starsky & Hutch challenge like you. I waited a bit but didn't see any modern police cars. I went through the garage also to see if I was able to enter it (just in case, you never know). Finally I destroyed him and then got exactly the same problem like you. I can only move the camera. Modern police cars also started appearing as of now.

I'll see what else I can get out of this :) Try destroying your own car maybe, or finishing the race, loosing the cops and crashing them again, or whatever… think of all possibilities :)

I knew about the camera views (just seeing tanner, was technically cock-pit view), but didn't know how I could word it easily. You did a good job! :)

Also, a while a go, I continued the police chase race, to the finishing line and (I think, if I remember correctly) it did the same thing as Starsky and Hutch one did, i couldn't do anything. But yes continue to see what else you can get out of it. Oh, btw if you watch it all in film director mode, everything has the shift hud/view. Or whatever you call it. :)

Interesting about the HUD!

What exactly are we trying to achieve BTW? I don't want to go through this whole ambush thing again, it's so frustrating :D

I mean I know that it could lead to something else, something interesting. But let's face it, no glitch will bring the San Francisco trams back

What would be interesting would be to load the 70s mode somehow.

I'm thinking of it this way: to "save" the traffic so that it appears in free roam. A bit like you did with the weathers! But I think the same problem as with your weather glitch appears here: it doesn't work with all. Because I had tried that glitch with no cops I think and the other technique and then basically I went with a car to a challenge that has 70s mode (by driving there — not by loading it in the menu, because in the menu you'll have a different interface with "start" and "go back" or something like this, whereas if you drive there it starts instantly). I then tried this technique to "save" it somehow so that if I go back to free roam, I'll see 70s traffic everywhere. Do you see what I mean? I was hoping it would work this way too :(

It's really frustrating again  I think the only solution would be a mod (for 70s mode) but I still don't really get how traffic works, can't we just hire someone? We set a price and we have a deal that for this or this price he will unlock this, this and this.

Edit: I now actually remembered again, it was the glitch where a dare was mistaken with the garage. You'd start the dare but it would load the activity traffic / settings into free roam, and you actually WOULD be in free roam. Thus there being no cops for example, because there's no cops in that dare. That's how I tried loading the 70s mode, or any other challenge or activity. There's only a few 70s ones that are near enough to the garage so it's really hard. But I had managed to do it a few times (what a pain) and sadly nothing happened, it just showed me a black screen and it was loading, loading and loading. In reality it didn't even get stuck. I had a similar situation with another of your glitches I think, and I was able to see that when I tabbed between the game and the desktop for example, for a millisecond or something I'd see the game before the black screen would reappear. I used screen capture then to see what was there, and in fact I was in my car, and nothing was happening. I then tried to bring the car to the garage this way, or to a challenge, but couldn't make it. If you're into shift mode, you're lost as you can't move (a bit like in the slow motion glitch). So yeah you can still control the car while you see the black screen.

But it was a real pain, 100% frustration, and I doubt I'll ever do it again. Anyone else can try if they want

I'm not sure what we are trying to achieve, it's just a glitch, which can end up making the game fail lol.

It's a shame about the trams, I can see why they got rid of them, but it still would of made a nice add on to the San Francisco feel. I never thought in the first place that there was going to be so many cool/ helpful glitches in the game and modding is really useful. It's becoming a Driver trend. (Interesting glitches that is lol)

I'm just trying to think of ways to make the game glitch even more, I mean if the modern cop cars appear in 70's mode, doesn't that mean there's is some sort of link, it's confusing because you finish the challenge, but you're still in the 70's setting. I think.

I'll let you sort out giving him the money haha. :P

Fair enough, I'll probably have a go at it again in the future...if I can be bothered.

There's two possibilities why cop cars appear:

1) The 70s isn't *really* a 70s mode like we know it from Driver: Parallel Lines. In fact, it's just an old filter with a pack of cars loaded into the scene which happen to be all from the 70s and 80s. (yeah actually it's an 80s mode :P)
So it may be that the Monaco cop cars in the challenges that include a chase aren't even set as *real* cops, but just set as cars that are chasing you, just like bad guys for example. That would also explain why they aren't chasing you when you hit them after you've lost them once. The *real* police cars would only be those that are cruising around and that would start chasing you when you hit them. And those cars happen to be the modern Charger or the Escalade for example. Once the challenge is finished, the rule that tells police cars not to spawn is ended / disabled and therefore they start spawning again.

2) Similar to the end of 1), the challenge is finished and the game loads "normal condition" settings again, which include these cop cars.

3) I haven't tried the glitch with a 70s challenge with cops. You may want to try that :) Do modern cop cars still appear at the end? Or do Monaco's spawn? The Starsky & Hutch one doesn't have any cops, therefore it might just be that the modern cop cars are the ones set for this challenge, and they didn't bother to set Monaco's for this challenge as no one would be chasing you anyway. This could be the answer if not all 70s modes are the same, if they're all unique basically. Are they? Personally I don't know, but I think yes. In the Smokey trail challenge I'd see old Dykemann's with trailers, but I never see these in the Starsky & Hutch challenge. I think at some point I also saw an old Lambo, which seemed to be very rare. I don't mean the Cannonball challenge BTW, where modern cars are being mixed up with the 70s mode (the other racers are a story appart… they can be anything basically).

So yeah, there you go :)
