Driv3r Miami in DPL

As I mentioned in anotherthread (Development Menu) I tried to load Miami from Driv3r in Driver Parallel Lines via levels.txt. And it works. Ok, not really, but the game didn't crash and tried to load the *.d3c file from Driv3r. You can see the result in the following video:

As you can see the game didn't load the textures or models from the buidings etc. Another problem are the collisision data which obviously isn't in the *.4dc file, but is loaded from another file. Moreover we can see some people falling down into holes and cars parking under TKs position. TK himself cannot move. There are some invisible walls around him. Then weapons are not visible any more because Driv3r has a own file for weapon models and textures, whereas DPL stores them in the *.4dc file. What we can see are the cars and people walking around on ther predefined paths (they are stored in other files), the so called litter (the papers on the ground) and of course the skybox.

I attempted this back when it come out for PC and it kept on crashing.
I even tried the file you mentioned, I'm pretty sure! I think I switch between the no-cd version and the real proper .exe and usually find a different outcome.

Weather it was that or not I might try this again!
See what happens!

and you tried to fool me again! Thinking you really got Miami in DPL.
I guess there is a incompatibility with some file formats.

You need three files from Driv3r: the *.d3c and and a folder with two texture archives "Interiors.pcs" and "SuperRegions.pcs". Copy the folder and the *.d3c into the DPL's "Cities" folder and wrote the *d3c file in the levels.txt. The OldLevel command didn't change anything. So I don't know what function it has.

It's important that you have a savegame starting at the hideout in Manhattan. I tried to load savegames with TK at Hunt's Point, Jersey and La Guardia. The game crashed.

PS: OK, the title of this thread doesn't really fit... :D

Like madness says there are compatability issues... well of course there bloody are. The games are probably made using updated, more efficient programs and probably a different game engine too. Maybe if you could redevelop both games with identical software and engines then you would have no problem crossing them over. But if you did this you'd be better off to stick both games into one file so it's all accsesable.

Driv3r und Driver Parallel Lines have the same game engine. But I think that both games use different formats for some files (models, maps, etc.), even if the texture format is the same.

Well anyway, i'm sure you understand what i'm getting at here, Thses games simply weren't meant to be one item, and making them so will take a ^%*^^*&^*^*&%%$E$% Load of work... Good Luck!
