I can't test these programs at the moment. So I don't know if they work at all or if they also can be used with DPL. But I'll try out as soon as possible and post it here. :)

Sometime ago I purchased Game Extractor, but never really got down to using it. I was really trying to get the creator to cover more than extracting textures but that failed.

I have also made countless attempts over at xentax and they weren't really all that much help either, so I kind of ditched both the Game Extractor and the xentax idea spending my time in many other places and I haven't really gotten all that far yet.

If only someone who knew a lot in all of this could become a driver fans and help us out modding Driver 3 and Driver: Parallel Lines.

At the moment I think I might bring my attention to memory hacking, this way it is possible to hack the camera angles and thing like that. However this also requires a lot of knowledge and is frustratingly annoying.

Some time soon I might get back and see if things have changed back at the old xentax community and I surly do hope they help us mod at least Driver: Parallel Lines.

Didn't know that you mentioned this tool before. The site was new to me, so I decided to post it here. It was clear to me that the game extractor can't do more than the tool by SparedLife, but as far as a I can see it is much more easier to work with because it has a better surface. I'll take a look at it.

I don't really think I mentioned it, since they couldn't really do much more than all the other programs I kind of didn't worry.

and I remember trying Game Extractor on driv3r and it didn't really extract the .dds textures very good. Maybe I never looked all that deep into the software, since the generic .dds ripper tool worked a lot better and I knew it worked, just takes longer to work with.

Whenever times on my side next I'll check the program out again!

I tried out Game Extractor on Parallel Lines and it can read the texture archives, but there are just some files with unknown formats, e.g. in the "cities"-archive: GESR, IRCT, GEIR...And you cannot extract these files, the program says that these are uncompressed files. But on the preview pics on the webpage you can see an opened Driv3r archive with preview pics of the textures. Maybe only the full version can handle it...

But one good thing: The tool also functions as a hex editor. Maybe helpful for someone with knowledge in programming.

That's a pretty cool deal. That guy has a nice website, too.

You've to purchase the full version to use it as a tool for changing textures because only the full version has the so-called format scanner which searches the archives for known formats (in our case: DDS). Then you can delete textures, add new textures, exchange textures and you have a preview of every texture within the program. So it's very easy to use.

Another advantage: You can have a look at the inside of the archive files (also with the basic version). The archives contains several sub-archives. The problem is that we cannot say clearly which of them contain textures and model files. We also can't say what other formats there are. We need a plugin for this program. Then the format scanner would also read the other files.
