Quick Modding Report

I've taken a look at the structure of the game and it looks pretty similar to driv3r and I tried some of the exsisting tools and we can use the older tools which worked with driv3r on driver: parallel lines which I think is quite amazing. But I'm not sure if this totally ruins the possibility of being able to map mod the game and things like that.

So here is a quick overview of what I have found...

Music Files
I took a look at the music files and there pretty much the same format as driv3r, soon I'll get the old driv3r tool and see if it works.

Textures
The texture files are pretty much the same just with different extensions so get and SparedLife's texturing tool and try it out.

Blink Video (FMV's)
Yes the game still uses blink codec technology. We will enable us to edit the fmv's just like in driv3r.

So this is what I've found in a couple of minutes, I really want to get back to the game so I'll file another more detailed report soon.

If you want to you may ask any questions, if I'm too caught up in the game it might take me a few days to answer them for you but I'll try my best.

So take a look around yourself and see what you can do and if you can do sometime amazing don't forget to tell us and everyone here.

If the structure of the game looks similar, then do you think there is any chance of putting new york in d3? I know its a big ask, but it would be awesome if it was possible.

The engine is pretty different which runs the game their are just some similar elements. One thing I don't know is the maps, there are the textures, the sounds and the fmv's but not the maps, I'm not sure if it'll ever be possible to make any maps and that would be helpful if we were to transfer New York into DRIV3R.

The main problem is that the engine of the game is very different, I spent a few mins trying to put the hud in driv3r and all it does is freeze. I'll look into it some more when I get the spare time.

A little off topic but I've had the game for 8 hours and I've driven 700miles and I've completed the *78 era. :P

No, it doesn't work...

I haven't try out yet, but I think the tool can't read this archives.

I'll make a little modding guide like the one in the Driv3r forums soon. :)

Tommow I'll be looking closly at the games files, currently I'm playing it. But it looks a little more promising than driv3r, maybe because it's going to be more popular.

But seriously it looks amazing. My first impression was that it could look better but I continued playing it and it's a great pc port.

Well back on track... hopefully we will be able to furture mod this game a lot more than we could with DRIV3R.

Only the future will tell when we have all gotten some time to sink our teeth in the files.

If it could be possible to mod Parallel Lines, maybe someone will create "Driver 76" mod

Driver: Parallel Lines is slightly easier to mod than driv3r probably for two reasons.

It's a lot more popular than driv3r on pc and the more people who own this game the more change we can get real professional programmers and people like that who can help us memory hack the game as well as make tools which just might enable us to map mod the game.

Just a few questions...

Who is they?
what is open mod sharing?
and how does "they" control "mod sharing" in GTA?

Just wondering, but cause I'm not quite sure what you mean...
