Modding discussion for Driver: Parallel Lines.

Particually texture modifications are getting popular with Driver: Parallel Lines and recently we have noticed that their filenaming standards are pretty annoying. Since we have the ability to rename files I think we should set a few standards which should propergate through all the driver modding communities to keep everything in an organised fashion, for both the bestsite owner and the user of the modification.

Ever since moving Driver Madness onto a newer better server with a lot more disk space I've been trying my hardest to keep everything very organised and I have done so succesfully but the main thing is the naming of the modifications which I may go back to and edit to make the users job easier.

At the moment I can see a future of these standards particually for the vehicles file. It still is possible with other files but could get a little more confusing.

So here are some of the standards we should be setting in place to keep everything organised and easier for the community.

Vehicles - vehicle.sp

KEY:
replacedvehname = the name of the vehicle you replaced eg. M700
bodywork = the bodywork you replaced for that particular vehicle
modvehname = the name of the vehicle you changed it to
author = the name of the author who created the modification

replacedvehname_bodywork_modvehname_author

Characters - nyc.sp

This file is harder to do because the pedestrians don't have any in-game names bit the characters do.

KEY:
replacedcharname = the character you replaced eg. TK
era = the era the character is from eg. 78 or 06
modcharname= the name of the character you made eg. Tanner

replacedcharname_era_modcharname_author

Cities - cities.sp

Once again this is fairly hard because it really depends on what you've edited but it sill should work out in the end.

KEY:
replacedname = what you replaced eg. Dirty Burger
era = the era you replaced it in eg. 78 or 06
modname = the name of the mod you created eg. Wendys (best to be what you changed dirty burger to be if you did)

replacedname_era_modname

Now all we have to do is work togeather and spread the standards around, unless you have some of disagreement then we should further discuss this topic.

There should be no disagreements because I've used this form of format for all of them, well very similar.

replacedvehname_bodywork_modvehname_author

Lets say we have four mods, three replacing the M700 and one replacing the Torex.

M700_3_LAPD_DOC
M700_4_FBI_DOC
M700_S_NYPD_JAY
TOREX_2_TAXI1_MADNESS

Ok, you can noticed that there is an ordering thing going on if all these files are in the same folder. The only problem we see if that we have a problem with the ordering with the bodywork standard would come up after 4. But I don't think this is too much of a problem. Unless we used the number 0 for standard, then everything would stay in proper order.

M700_0_NYPD_JAY
M700_3_LAPD_DOC
M700_4_FBI_DOC
TOREX_2_TAXI1_MADNESS

So I think we have found some pretty good standards, I've spent sometime evaluating the possibilites and what I've come up with looks perfect. So well see what you all think and try to put this into practise.

This is actually a good idea but when you're talking to someone about this, be sure that person as renamed the files as well otherwise it will be confusing for both.
