Modding discussion for DRIV3R.

ABOUT

I’m sharing a mod that rebalances vehicle performance focused on improving realism, gameplay balance, and overall driving experience, so to make vehicle speeds more coherent, chases more skill based, and gameplay more enjoyable (without breaking the game’s internal logic). Instead of extreme speed cheats or purely cosmetic tweaks, this pack focuses on true vehicle behavior, adjusting top speed, acceleration balance and damage resistance across the entire vehicle roster. The goal of this mod is not absolute real-world accuracy, but a coherent balance within DRIV3R’s engine, maps and AI behavior. Faster cars feel meaningfully faster, police chases become more skill-based, and vehicle choice finally matters. This mod was developed after extensive testing across all missions, including, Take A Ride modes, of course.

WHAT THIS MOD DOES

Vehicle Speed Rebalance:
• Sports and high-performance cars are significantly faster than regular vehicles.
• Economy cars, vans and trucks remain appropriately limited.
• Vehicle classes are now clearly differentiated.
• All vehicles were adjusted — not just a few.
The result is a game where vehicle choice actually matters.

Police Chase Balance:
• Police vehicle base speeds were intentionally kept slightly lower than many fast civilian cars.
• This is a deliberate design choice, as DRIV3R’s AI applies a hidden speed boost during pursuits.
• With this balance skilled players using faster cars can genuinely escape (without difficulty), police remain threatening but not unfair, chases become much more skill-based.

Vehicle Damage Balance:
• Larger and heavier vehicles are now more resistant to impacts.
• Smaller and lighter vehicles remain more fragile.
• This adds realism and fairness, especially when using vans, trucks or buses.

WHAT THIS MOD IS NOT

For this mod, some parameters from the VO3 editor were used; however, for maximum speed and others, VO3 was not used. The method I used is far more advanced than VO3 Editor speed tweaks, because VO3 editor can only, by affecting acceleration, slightly very little affect speed (allowing for very little increase, possibly no more than about 20 km/h) and also VO3 editor can't affect all vehicles (these parameters is not available for vehicles like motorcycles and boats in VO3 editor, for example). Also it does not use Cheat Engine “super speed” hacks because Cheat engine only apply temporarily during runtime, affecting with a global multiplier and only affecting cars (not motorcycles or boats), also, Cheat Engine hack increases the maximum speed too much, leading to absurd extremes (example, it which make buses go 300+ kmh and typical cars exceed 600 kmh). This mod (my method) directly edits BO3 vehicle data, allowing full control over top speed behavior for all vehicles, and for this reason I adjusted it in a balanced and realistic way, editing these BO3 files directly.

COMPATIBILITY

All story missions tested and completed, no mission-breaking issues caused by this mod, Take A Ride fully functional, multi-language compatible (EU version tested, should also work on US), and important original game glitches noted are documented inside the download, but none are caused by this mod.

INSTALLATION

1. Open the game_files/main folder
2. Copy and replace files into your DRIV3R installation directory
3. (Optional) Use game_files/optional for adjusted Driving Games missions

EXTRAS INCLUDED

• Tutorials explaining: how vehicle top speed works in BO3 files, how to manually edit speeds via hex editor, how to change player skins.
• Cheat Engine table with digital speedometer.
• Optional mission tweaks for fairer Driving Games timers.
• In game_files there will be a text file of comparison between original vehicles performance vs my modded vehicle performance and also some explanations.
