Driv3r Community Patch - Let's fix the problems

Looking at the work done by imhotep405 to fix certain texture problems that have been driving us insane makes me wanna help out since this is something I want fixed. So, here's my grand idea, create our own Community Patch like people did for the original "Unreal" and "Balls of Steel". I messaged imhotep405 and told him that I would like to contribute since I have done several texture mods to DPL. We the community shall compile our own fix, and release the Driv3r version that should have been released, not some crappy glitchy game. So, let's start.

I would like to start by pointing out glitches I have found that have not already been fixed by imhotep405.
Image
^ Every taxi in Miami and Istanbul.
Image
^ Taillights are misplaced on the Challenger.
Image
^ Those textures on that tree are terrible. Don't know if we can fix it.
Image
^ Notice the hood textures.
Image
^ Another hood.
Image
^ Are the headlights supposed to look that terrible?
Image
^ Seriously the headlights in this game are hideous.
Image
^ Notice the line underneath the license plate?
Image
^ Floating lights?
Image
^ See?
Image
^ This one is obviously in need of fixing up.
Image
^ I'm driving FORWARD if you are wondering.
Image
^ Did someone piss on the top of the pole?
Image
^ BAHAHAHAHAHA I included that one for laughs.
Image
^ Why aren't windows transparent for me?
Image
^ Another taxi weird glitch.

Someone wanna help me with the Taxi one cause I don't know how I'll fix that. I installed it on another computer and it did it on that computer too so it ain't me.

Also with the patch I will add something that will make the game work with an XBOX 360 controller. ;)

ROFL @ the piss on the pole comment, and the good ol' 2 cars that spawn inside eachother in that one parking lot. The lighting effects and shading effects are crap on PC also....and of course there's less car colors. Man, if only DRIVER3.IMG was extractable.

Are you suuure you're running D3 with all settings on high?

Most issues pointed out here are because of the low settings (except for the floating light and missing light on the taxi). It used to look like that on my old pc. It atleast isnt as buggy as the xbox version, the cops can drive through walls there D:

The last mayor glitches i had was that all threes where grey and that for a moment (while playing in Miami) that i found myself in Instanbul for half a second. Both seemed to happen because of the low amount of ram memory i had, the minimum it required. Sounds weird but some of them could be performance isseus. If not than im baffled kinda.

Even playing in high resolution with full details, the glitches are still here. Textures are in low resolution ( 256x256 max i think ) so we can not expect better textures. The game engine seems to not allow to have better textures like in DPL. About the headlights , I had done a small modification quite some time, as a test. About the floating lights, the meshes are badly positioned. So i do not think that it's a texture's issue but instead a global or local coordinates glitche in the 3d world of the game. And it can be corrected via script i think. But we do not have access to the scripts of the game, or at least in the form we would like.

I run the game at 800x600x32 with 16:9, all settings on, bilinear filtering. The problem is not my computer (even though it barely even runs the game without lags, thus the only reason i dont use enb series). Also I found another glitch. If you go to Jone's safehouse in Istanbul in Take a Ride at night the game crashes to desktop. Now THAT is something major that I hope we could figure out. As for the textures, I say let's start by extracting them and trying to fix them in Photoshop with the DDS extension. The piss on the pole, the hoods on the Miami vehicles, the line on the Ferrari, and the rest of the van(damaged textures) could easily be fixed so I will take care of those. I will need help with the light issues, that red car that is really ugly, the tree, safehouse glitch, and transparent windows.

Savehouse glitch could be an script error of some sorts, i am guessing here cause i dont know the programming of D3. I wish that i could help more but i dont have the pc version anymore :/

One thing i do remember in Istanbul is that alongside the railroad on the other side of the fence that there is an place to fall through, and in Nice there's a place you can jump over just to fall of the map and kill yourself.
D3 needs alot of fixes.

Thanks for reminding me about the Nice glitches! In the PS2 version (most likely also in PC version), in the underground garage at the airport there is a place to fall through the level and fall onto an underground floor with invisible ramps and such. Wonder if that could be fixed. I'll have to see if its in the PC version tomorrow. Here is some person's video of the PS2 glitch (not me my ps2 version no longer works cause it was used and was already in terrible condition then it got ruined in the ps2... thus why i hate playstation):

I haven't anything to say about fixing, but I'll comment these glitches:

As for a game, which absorbed 4 000 000 dollars for development and something like that for advertisments, these glitches are so moron-like, that I haven't any word to describe it, how Ubisoft 3d/2d artists screwed up their work.

Sorry for my English.

Ubisoft had nothing to do with this game.

It's more Reflections' fault for those issues. And Atari for rushing

I can ask my friend if i can borrow his copy and see if that copy has the same glitches. My only question is if the files can be altered already besides texture replacements.

They can. Files can be moved around and renamed. For the istanbul glitch maybe we can copy the day models and replace the day textures with the night textures. im busy today and possibly tomorrow so i cant look into this more until monday. i think the problem is inside the safehouse itself cause when im driving by it the game crashes but I see everything rendered and all when outside. Even the parking lot is rendered (i approached from both sides). the game always crashes between the parking lot and the building itself.

I tried all safehouses in Istanbul by night in the take a ride mode and I did not encounter any glitches or crashes.
About the shower booth, i did a test about the shader. This is not a texture bug but a shader's assignation issue.
More simply, the shower booth has the wrong shader applied. :)

Sounds like an spawning and/or rendering error in the hotel itself (still guessing) maybe an item that needs to be spawned is corrupt, who knows. I'm allowed to borrow my friend's copy so i will check it out this week.

Ok I'm back and I have a lot to say. First, it isn't just the showers that aren't transparent. The Mall in Miami and building with Dubois have non-transparent windows too. Second, I tried out the Nice glitch and realized it was fixed in the PC version (yay!). Third, the safehouse I am talking about is the one you have to go to the one mission you play as Jones. I also loaded it at day and went inside and realized that the cabinets are sideways making it impossible to get to the grenade launcher and health pack without shooting through. I also noticed that in Istanbul most cars have no brake lights and the police car has the same glitch as the taxis.

Also could you explain the shower transparency thing to me?

Shower's glass texture (lmao, glass texture :D ) hasn't transparency. Alpha transparency channel is... In bushes with lady. Lol.

Sorry, I had too good mood. :P
Game engine just doesn't use transparency channel in shower's glass texture, so the texture isn't transparent.

The glass texture has its alpha channel. Phone Booths have this issue to.

I suppose you have to export the texture, delete the alpha channel, make it again and import texture.

But I don't know Driv3r files system.
