CROSSHAIR MOD???

I've just downloaded the iZ3D driver so I can play Driv3r in 3D, that's alot of threes mixed into different words right there. The problem I'm having is that, though the 3D effect of high separation and negative convergence creates some incredible depth in this game  , the crosshair is only a 2D object and goes out of focus if you look into the distance or too close up. Does anyone know a way to remove the crosshair? Or possibly change it, I can't find the file for the crosshair anywhere in the Driv3r files and I can't find any talk about it on the internet. Thanks ahead a time.

Ok, the problem persists but I did find something. iZ3D allows you to add it's own crosshair to any game with a shortcut key combo. That crosshair stays in the middle of the seperated game crosshair when it goes out of focus but I would still like to get rid of the game crosshair. Does anyone know if there's a hex file I can edit or a cpr file or something to get rid of it? Thanx

It must be pretty expensive. Specially for who live in Brazil like me...

Thanks, actually I don't even have an iZ3D monitor. All you need is a regular montior of any kind really and just use the iZ3D driver with anaglyph setting to use the red and blue glasses and you can play games in 3D. The driver is free, I'll try to upload a vid of Driv3r in 3D in HiDef on youtube so if any of you guys have those red and blue glasses you can see what it would be like. It makes the game experience a million times better, I can't play games without it now. I even got it to work with an old N64 emulator so I can play old n64 games in 3D.

The problem I'm having is I don't know where the file is for the crosshair on Driv3r and there's not a way to turn it off in game. Also, for some reason my replays are really short. Anyone know how to extende them by increasing the file size they take up or anything like that?

So I'm guessing no one knows how to get rid of or change the crosshair.

oh well, I've uploaded a video on youtube. Couldn't figure out how to get the video to take up the whole screen in HD but you can select the HD button for higher quality. It's just to show you what the game looks like in 3D. The quality of the video doesn't do the 3D justice though, the depth is not nearly as good as it is in game pluss the ghosting is worse in the vid but if you've got the red and blue glasses you can check it out here...

Unfortunately, I've never seen this done.
I don't know why the development team didn't extend the PC versions film director to last for an infinite amount of time since pcs have much better hardware to handle long replays compared to the Xbox and PS2. Or. at least an option to control this. Storage space isn't a problem, a regular replay is approximately 20 to 80kb.

I remember Nvidia had a driver that could do this and then they stopped supporting it after the 8000series of GeForce graphic cards. Perhaps they sold it to iZ3D but I think nivida is working with them since there doing everything for you to buy there screens.

Earlier last year I spent $60 on a 2x plastic framed 3d glasses and about 30 assorted paper ones. They weren't cheap and I haven't even managed to use them.

Well I used them, but nothing was 3d it looks almost the same on as they did off with very little 3d. So I'm going to try them again one day, perhaps with that 3d stereo driver.

I think I know where the crosshair is, but it's a pain to modify and edit. Plus, I cannot remember which file it's in which would take me ages to find. It's in one of the big texture achieve files.

Which you can extract with .dds ripper
modify with photoshop and the .dds plugin
import back into the file with .dds ripper.

It could be a painful process just to remove the crosshairs.
But if I can remember correctly there is a alpha channel (a black and white image) you can pain entirely black. Black = transparent meaning you wont see the texture and white is what you see.

But if you don't see the alpha channel you might be able to color it one color to remove it. But if there is an alpha channel hiding somewhere you'll see it that colour you painted it in photoshop.

Unfortunately there is no other way to remove it.
There isn't a proper way to read that file.

.dds ripper looks for .dds headers and rips them. That's it you cannot remove that information.

If you want to try it out you can download the .dds ripper here.

If you really want the cross hairs removed I can try and find it and make a quick patch or tutorial. If I develop it I think it'll be the first time I've played a game for 2 months. Yikes! :o

Before that I played driv3r, dpl, TOCA RC 2+3 and doom 3 shortly :).

Thanks madness, I did a complete conversion of the pc game GTA San Andreas so I know how to do that kinda stuff and you don't have to worry about giving me the tutorial, thanks again though.

I know that a lot of people don't upgrade their computers and are stuck with PCs that could at best play Driv3r in 3D but probably no other game better than that graphically or with better gameplay. Because Driver 3 is one of the best games I've seen so far with the 3D, and I've seen alot including Crysis, I know that if it was used as a benchmark for the 3D gaming comunity the game would get a new and bigger fan base which I would like to see. I've also used the 3D driver from Nvidia but the iZ3D has a completely different setup which includes convergence on different aspects of games than the Nvidia drivers do. The Nvidia driver's convergence settings mostly only effects the hud and not the 3D elements, but iZ3D drivers do. This creates a much wider range to work with to create better looking 3D than Nvidias stereo drivers. Plus iZ3D drivers will work with OpenGL and I don't believe Nvidia drivers do.

On Nvidia's site however in their list of games to use 3D with, Driv3r is right near the top and one of the only free roaming action games of it's kind to use it on.
