Modding discussion for Driver 2.

Does anyone know if its possible to port PS games to PC easily and modify them. My main reason is I'd like to play Driver 2 at a good framerate, one it was meant to be played at, I don't know anything about this sort of stuff, but I remember seeing videos of D2 running at good framerates, most likely from the developers computers, so they must've set it to something the Playstation could handle. Possibly change traffic amounts?

I'm not talking about emulating games, unless you can mod them and still run them on an emulator.

Well I have been looking into moding Driver 2 and using it on the PC. I even went down the track of putting the .map files into Driver's Engine, but of course it didn't work. As the games engines are significantly different.

So I have decided to emulate it, it's the only path I think we can go down unless we have lots of money to hire professionals to do a proper conversion, but in this case I think we would need access to reflections Hard Drives.

With the emulator I'm using at the moment it can read .ISO files.
If you want to mod the game you can extract the .ISO modify it and then import it back into a .ISO. Maybe we can find a plug-in which allows us to look at a directory so it's so much easier.

The developers usually write to a disk that the xbox or ps2, in this case ps1 can read every single time they want to test the game, because emulation is a bit jumpy.

But I was playing the game on my pc and it works perfect, in fact feels better than playing it on the ps1.

So I suggest you emulate it with a emulator.
I noticed my ps1 achually plays it a little slow.
On my pc it goes a bit faster, but it takes a lot of configuring to get it right just for your pc.

Here are some download links

It's always a good idea to experiment with different plugins.
Different plugins are better for different sorts of hardware.

Well I played it in my PS2 today, and its no faster than I remember it being on PS1. And even if it is, its still quite slow. I guess I'll try emulation. Its really not that important, not worth a ton of work.

That happens to me on all PS1 games that I play on my PS2. It is slow and has worse graphics. I wonder if there is a way to fix it...

Ubisoft would have made relicense game to GNU GPL, excluding resources and FMV's, on 10th anniversary ... but is only a dream :(

PS: Sorry for my English

ePSXe or your PS1 simulator is the current only solution... :(
