Hello Driver Madness Forum!

As you may have noticed, I'm new this Forum! I discovered it yesterday after I felt like installing my copy of Driver 1 again and somehow got here when looking for something.... I was amazed of how Driver 1 modding has progressed since the last time I checked for Driver mods! Great work on it, thanks to all of you!

However, here is something I thought could be of interest for some of you. One day, quite a long time ago obviously, I got into making a new siren to replace one of the siren sound files that are (nearly) the same, and this was the result. I think it fits into the game very well!
Some background information for those who are interested:

The new (and the original) siren sounds are from a movie called "The Driver". From what I saw back then it is one of the movies the Driver game is loosely based on, and what is special about this one is that, as I said, the siren sound, but also a crash sound and tyre squealing that made it into the game were taken from one of the movie scenes, and as my video description says this new siren sound is from that scene as well.
if you like you can take a look at the scene on YouTube. Just search for "The Driver (1978) Police Chase Scene - High Quality", I'm quite sure you'll spot some similarities in sound

EDIT: A download has been submitted in the downloads section, containing a small readme file as well, which has to be activated so you don't have to download from 4shared!

That's a really cool mod you got there, too. Makes a nice change of the old sirens for once. Simple but effective.

Ah I prefer this much more than the other siren, I remember how it used to really get on my nerves when I was younger
But probably it would happen with this siren as well. I guess the best is just how it’s done in DSF: it automatically switches between both sirens… I like that…

Hello Coyote, Olanov already had the idea to improve them by making them switch automatically, which i've just finished. I like it better this way as well, but i don't know if i can already replace the old .zip in the downloads section with the new one.

I like your mod, it's a small one but the impact it has one the game is pretty big, I like it!

Whoa this siren sounds great!! way better than the original!! And those facts about the sounds being taken from The Driver are really cool :O

Here comes a video with the mixed siren sounds. This is a replay of the "Steal a cop car" mission in L.A. The is one police car chasing me at most, which plays the same siren sound as the car which I am driving. The second and 4th car in pursuit would play a sound with shorter sound sequences for you to have a bit more variety when there are many cops after you.
I'll update the file as soon as I've figured out how to do that. I might as well have to make 2 more posts in order to access my own file

Im sorry but i have to say, all i could think about while listening to the music is the sponge bob police
