I was reading through some older comments in the project thread for the Citroen 2CV, and someone had made a suggestion about using pixel pattern transparency for Driver, since it doesn't support alpha mapping. So I went to work and created an alpha map that would behave as if Driver was filtering out the RGB 8,8,8 color. Without further ado, here is pixel pattern transparency in action on the Porsche 550 Spyder -

But up close, it looks god awful -

How does it work? Basically, I created a 256 X 256 texture that's basically a checkerboard of RGB 8,8,8 and another darker color. From far away, it looks complete, but up close, it looks really bad. I will be able to test this theory in Driver once we have more advanced tools.
