Yep! Finally here, just to let you know my latest project. This time it`s guarenteed, it will be finished. To start with, did anyone remember these strange default textures found in the flat.lev file? No? Okay!

You see? Completely different for some vehicles.

Now.. if you take a notice in DTE2, they`re displayed without modelname, so that they cannot be extracted. Really? No! I myself have just found a way to get everything extracted from the lev files, even unnamed scenery. On same way I`ll just release very hot stuff soon, just be checking Driver/Modifying forum over Driver Madness Network ;)

And what the features will be?
  • New wheel model. It`s coming from the unused wheel models found in flat.lev file.
  • New hubcaps, from the unused hubcap model in train.lev
  • New Skylark, the version found in NC_01.lev. Of course, it`s UV mapping will be fixed, for better result
  • The unused beta Red Skylark. I finally extracted the model, and it will be used in Training levels ;)
  • Beta Cop Car, for Miami
  • All the load of pre-final vehicles, to replace the current default ones.
  • ...more and more! Is planned PSX remake of the game, in different mod
Check soon for updates ;)

Cool. I wish UV mapping can be fixed. :(

Wat. It`s the smallest problem you will have to worry about. Bigger one is to get correct UV map over the damaged model. Just to disable the need of 'No Damage' cheat.

What cop car do you think is better??? the beta or final??? The beta looked ugly!!!!

The miami beta copcar is awesome. UV map related problems can be easily fixed, and I`m gonna use it for Miami only. Other sities will have edited copcar, made out from the pre-final version.

And, if I have to choise from here:

Beta, without doubt. Plus the lightbar is better looking.

Am i blind? I don't see much difference between that beta cop car and final in your picture.

Eww. If you take a close look on both you`ll be able to find few minor differences. Take a look on the lightbar, it has different shape.

So wait a minute, are you saying that you know how to export any models now? What about importing them? How does it work?

Yep, Mark, and if anyone else remember this was though to be impossible. But, I`ve found secret way to hardcore extraction. It`s very slick process and you will have to know exactly what to do ;)

Of course, I`m doing a guide at how to do it, soon to be online, at here - http://www.drivermadness.net/forum/v2/v ... =72&t=2262.

About the cop car - look, guys, compare it to PSX final cop car. It is the same car - longer bonnet, bigger headlights...

Probably first release will be online on my site that weekend. By that far, I successfully extracted all these pre-final models, and they`re ready for converting job :specialdriver:

Just completed comparing beta vs final models. By far, current progress:
- Final Chevelle with Beta Chevelle (Working on)
- Final Copcar with Beta Copcar (Working on)
- Final Nova with Beta Nova (Working on)
- Final Charger with Beta Charger (Working on)
- Change all final textures with beta textures (DONE)
- Replace Training levels`s Skylark with Beta Red Skylark (DONE)
- Replace ingame Buick Skylark with Beta Skylark (Working on, currently UV map fixing, might use Newcastle version instead fixing)
- Replace Miami Copcar with Beta Copcar (Working on, using Interview version, will not be fixed for now).

Is excepted release very soon !

Don't. It doesn't work well (doesn't look well). I tried already. It still need UV fixing.

Okay. In fact all I needed to do is just place it on right place (correcting with Skylark model). But okay, I`ll see what I could do, but remember that I`m gonna use that stuff, which remained in Beta version of Driver, and bring it unmodified.

Those cars that are darker than the others are NOT beta cars! Those were toned down to look like they were in a parking garage!

If have to agree with you. In fact, I`m gonna change these only:
- The Nova - beta model is totally different, even has high quality wheel arcs (probably all car were gonna have, but they decreased the quality).
- The Chevelle - different model.
- The Copcar - different model (very similar to the PSX one).
- The Charger - again, beta is looking different. Even rear is enhanced.
- Textures on GP, Red car, Truck and the others. Due to fact that these beta texture are really darker, but I`ll replace the textures for being unedited yet (just like the crappy window textures).

I remember that there are beta Miami traffic car models and textures in the desert level file and beta SF/LA traffic car models in the training parking garage that hope that you can replace with the final ones also.

The textures in the desert level are horrible, and I don't think those are beta traffic models in the training level - just different colors than usual.

The rear of the traffic parked taxi in the training carpark has a different rear compared to the ones in SF/LA traffic, same for the van which has a extra rear windscreen.

Right. Taxi has pickups front and rear lights. The van has windscreen in back too, as he says.

In train.lev we have station wagon beta (has lights like in sedan and taxi, not like muscle, as in Miami), hatchback beta (the same changes like in station wagon), van has rear windscreen as in iview.lev.

Thanks anyone for all this info. I really look forward replacing these traffic cars as working, in Miami and other cities. I just looked on them, and yeah, like the beta textures and models in flat.lev, these are 'raw' versions, e.g. unedited (I mean, the didn`t made the windows looking better, as blurring them, yet).

And yeah, all that left-over and unused will be integrated in this Driver Beta remake. I`ll even try using the 'fixed' version of the Beta Copcar, on which I`m working right now (will just have the textures bigger, I have really to see something)

By the way, how's your progress with the Driver PC Beta and if you ever plan to release it since you are starting on the PSX Beta remake instead?

No, I will never let this die that quick. I just switched into the PSX Beta, cause not even it was what I really wanted to do, but it will be more interesting to do, so ;)

Anyway, it`s just postponed until further notice.

Actually I see nothing wrong with the UV map on the BETA COPCAR, except flaws on back and that roof >.<
