Surprisingly, no. He did this out of his own interest in Driver, and the endless possibilities he's creating. Did the DMC creator want money? No, he wanted to help other Driver fans out there. We appreciate your work, Someone. Keep it up!!!

I just figured out how to read the first part of data. Expect much quicker progress, but don't expect it to be done soon.

The driver programmers would probably be laughing at me. All this is so simple once I figure it out that I wonder why I didn't before.

Just an update: I have palette loading working for most level files. For some reason it doesn't work for flat.lev. I'll have to look into that later.

Sorry for my late reply. Unfortunately I haven't been able to work on it this week. I was able to change to color of the car some more, through more hard coding. The program is slowly getting closer to completion. 8)

Hey just a question, if it does get completed, will it be GUI based or command based?

well, its been ages since ive been on here (for those that dont recall, i made the drover traffic cars and recreated all the models for midtown madness 2) this project intrigues me, although i havent modded or played a game in years, im struck by this, im hoping (like all of you) to get in the driver seat of the traffic cars, and maybe add on cars, id sure like to have my personal real vehicles in this game (i have 3d accurate models of my 1991 f150, 1994 f150 and 2004 f350) if theres any way i can hep i wll, but im not sure if my severe lack of computer skills and knowlegde will affect anything.

I would like to tail(I know its not possible) a black van in NY,start off near the WTC,follow it through some sidestreets, than it will pull into a alley, park near a building, than a ingame cutscene with the van parked and just have 4 guys pop out near the doors of the van and walk through the building.

Actually Driv3rownz, check out the other threads about new discoveries i made inside the ReplayData folder.

I was bluffing myself. The entire time, the chases have been located inside PINGS PADS LEADER and PLAYER files!

Read more on the front page of the Modifying section.

edit: Before anyone asks, the reason me and Richard P have the same reg date is because we came from MM2X i believe it was, we were showing off the driver traffic cars mod for MM2.

I have since stuck here.

I can do whatever you guys want. I'll probably go the gui route with basic commands. The most important part of the GUI would be the ability to see what you are editing, and have the ability to import and export the images.

Try internet tutorials. They are a nice start.

I'm making progress, so don't think I've stopped working on it.

As for me I learned C++ from a book, but internet tutorials are also a great way to start.

If the book recommends Dev-C++ then I'd suggest getting Code Blocks instead. Dev-C++ hasn't been updated for years.

If you have trouble with a peice of code you can PM me, I check it every so often.

Good luck! I was trying to learn C++ few months ago, but I dropped it and I decided to learn HTML instead.

lol, c++ is more for applications/games, but HTML is webdesign. I'd love to learn C++, but sadly my math skills are horrible.

Just an update on the status of the project:

I can load any image from any of the level files. The only issue is with paletted images, which I need to manually find the proper palette to since I don't yet know where it is stored. There is not yet an import or export function etc.

I am currently taking requests for images. I will go through the proccess of extracting them through hard-coding, post them here for whoever requests it, and put it back in the file and give the new level to you. Of course you will be able to do this yourself once the program is done, however I don't know when that is. I could also make a sheet of all images if needed.

For Requesting:
1. State the city.
2. State the image. If this is a car be sure to specify which one.
3. State if you want a new level file with the modified images you return to me in it.

I have an idea of which cars those are, but I'm not exactly sure. So I'm now introducing the number system :) . Just choose your numbers.

(Is this image too large?)

Actually I just used printscreen, but that file would be realtively easy to open. I'll get those to you soon, right now I'm gonna drop by Blockbuster.

Lol, yeah true. But I dropped it for the same reason. I suck at maths.

Anyways, someone, I'll want the cars 1, 5 and 12, please. :)
