Wow!
I cannot believe I missed this post; I've been busy lately, but anything to do with modding usually grabs my attention quickly.
I haven't read through the entire post yet. But I'm amazed with some of the things you have achieved. I remember archiving some similar things with driv3r which I unfortunately haven't properly documented but while cleaning up my computers hard drive I'll randomly upload tones of videos showing tones of weird things. But enough of driv3r.
I've been following the modding scene very well up until early 2008 and have been fascinated about the things you can do with games. I've done a lot of things with driver but I never got anywhere near modifying textures and I congratulate you for your amazing work.
I cannot believe programmers managed to make tones of mission editors and none of them managed to develop a texture mod application. Just as I thought the Driver modding scene died it is back to it's full glory.
Slick wrote:What im hoping is that oneday i mean ONEDAY lol a complete city editor will become available it must be possible i mean editors like this are available for other games why not driver, you know? i feel that gradually we are onto something i mean lets go back a year from now NO ONE at all was able to look at textures or even change simple object names so we are all gradually getting there u know? lol
Just as driver celebrates it's 10 year an amazing tool is developed. One day, maybe one-day with the dedication of programmers and modifiers this might be possible.
But I realize looking for models can be a painful job, more than textures. But hopefully someone can manage to accomplish this.
I stayed away from the ambitious dpl: texture massive texture modification due to time limitations but it would be amazing to see a high quality texture restoration project. Just like a team did with Duke Nukem 3D that mod was pretty amazing modernizing such an old game.
But nothing would beat modeling a high-poly vehicle and putting it in Driver. Or just for laughs a massive toilet driving around the streets of Miami.
I'm only on the fourth page at the moment.
I'll go through and read the rest another day.
I must say it's quite the page-turner, I cannot wait to see what happens next.

With a community of this size, I'd never let driver madness go down any longer than a couple of days which should be enough time to move to another server and upgrade it.
On a slight unrelated to this topic but related to what I was just saying.
Since the DriverWiki isn't as popular as I had hoped I've decided to no longer work on it - more info on that here.
