Modding discussion for Driver.

That dude's list of supported games and files says Driver (Driver1, original, whatever): .map files. So far I can't seem to figure out how to get it to show me the texture map thing like you have displayed in the example above in this thread. I guess I need to read up on it some more and try to work it out. Thanks again, you guys, for mentioning the game extracting tools. Those are pretty cool, to be sure.

you don't even need this tool for the driver 1 map files because the driver1 map files are basically .bmp

So if you go into your driver1 directory and find the .map files rename them to .bmp and you can open them up in paint brush or any other image editing software you have on your pc and then you can edit these and save them and rename them back to .map and then you'll be able to see the edits you made on the in game overlay map.

LMAO. I’m a dummy, man. I’m trying to extract a single image file like it was a compressed archive or something. LOL! Thanks, boss.

Sorry to mess up your thread, JAY. I'll post any further questions about modding that game in the appropriate area.

I moved it into it's very own thread, so you don't have to say sorry to JAY.
anyways I did this because I'm going to further this post.
I just made a video that shows you set by step how to edit the maps.

I personally have been focusing on DRIV3R a lot more in the modding sector however I think I'll start taking a look the driver again when ever I can find the time.

If you are dedicated to modding games in the driver series, make sure you stay around and hopefully we will get into modding driver.

It is currently possible to edit the mission scripts, all the sounds and some of the images (ones found in the maps and the intro page)

If you’re interested feel free to ask more questions...
Aw, I kept thinking I had seen where this was covered already. Man, boss, I’m sorry about when I forget stuff that’s already been dealt with or basically just ask unnecessary stuff that wastes time. I guess I need to hurry up and get to dealing with DRIV3R instead.

Not to kick a dead dog or anything, but over the years I have played a couple of games (literally, only two, not to exaggerate about it) where either a dude from the development team released a fix, or the developer released a patch even though the publisher did not support those releases. If I could have a wish, I would wish some dude from the Driver dudes would do something like that and correct those default views that the Auto Director cycles through that we talked about before. I’ve been wishing that more than ever since we found out there weren’t likely to be any more Film Director modes in Driver games.

Anyway, sorry about confusing being able to edit the city maps with having access to the game’s texture in general. This is cool, though, because there are a few places I'd like to mark in the Driver city maps to make them easier to find while I'm driving. So thanks again for the infos.

Oh, yah, and thanks for graciously reloacating my misplaced posts that were in JAY's new thread. I appreciate it.
