maybe this will be a noobish question but; as need for speed carbon and most wanted's cutscenes were great just like driver parallel lines's cutscenes; so i was wondering as need for speed's had real artists played that scenes does driver parallel lines had an actor who played tk in 78 and 06

I don't think that abyone acted as TK, i'm pretty sure when looking at it that it is far too animated to be a film. for that reason i say they are just voice over actors, but i could be wrong.

umm sorry I wanted to say that you're wrong and it was for you.

I've seen a video of the making of DPL and they show the guy who's playing him at one moment. But maybe you're right and he was only a voice actor.

Well i'm not certain at all so yeah i could be wrong. But just from what i've seen he's not a real person but if you saw him acting the scenes in the making of DPL then he probably is a real actor.

The fmv's in dpl are completely rendered as well as in driv3r and all the other driver titles. They only do voice overs with real people and their names can be found in the credits.

I think with NFS games they get real actors and chroma key them. By using a greenscreen to cut them out and put them in the animated world with a few filters used to make them look a little more animated.

In dpl I believe the fmv development team used either Maya or 3DsMax to create the fmv's and they where completely done within the program.

The models could be based off of real people or could be completely made up. Considering the storyboards/concept art it looks like it was totally made up and based on no particular person.

The people do look real but that's where animation is going these days and maybe one day we will be able to play the game at that rendered quality and they fmv's will be like real life!

Do I need to pay 3DsMax ? Or can I get it for free ?

You cannot open the fmv files up if that's what your trying to do, since they have been rendered and saved in the Bink format.

If you want to model your own projects and animate them do a search for Maya or 3DsMax and there is a 30 day trial existing for each.

Maya is the industry standard these days, but it's up to you which one to use.
Beware: That 3d animation is really hard, but once you know what your doing it's awsome but time consuming.

You cannot do all that much with google sketchup but for making models google sketchup is a great program to start off with and then you can move up to the harder 3dsMax or Maya.

You can open the fmv files in the pc version of dpl with Bink.
You might be able to open up the ps2 version I'm not sure, never tried it. Never looked at the disk!

you can download BINK from here.

you would also have to make sure all files is selected because the extensions on the pc version and possibly the ps2 version would be fairly different from the original ones which were made with this program.

Yeah i tried google sketch up but it is pretty crappy. although some of the models i have seen done in it do look pretty awesome though, i haven't had it for long but i guess it gets better.

As for Autodesk Maya, that's one huge program and my pc would die if i even tried to search for a downlaodable version.
