That's right, there was a demo of DPL. But, not an ordinary demo version, because this is quite earlier build of DPL (28/11/2005 as seen on the dates), and has some beta stuff. At first, very special thanks to loookatme123, who gave me the whole Official PlayStation Magazine Vol. 103, making possible doing this research. Here's the menu theme:
And here are some screenshots. These are for now, since it's running very very slowly on the laptop, I will have to try on the PC later on, so stay tuned for more!
And here's lookatme123 video of the demo in action:
I will be sending the IMG file to the quickbms' founder and scripter, aluigi, so hope we will have the file unpacked soon

Song is simply AWESOME, gonna download it for my music list.
Great pics, i've noticied that cops have different clothes than in original version. Also they have modern pistols rather than a revolver like in the final version.
But sometimes i've seen cops dressed like that in PC version. Also cops with helmets and sunglasses.
Really interesting stuff it is indeed. Hopefully someone can obtain the Driv3r demo for PS2, I'm curious to know what its like.

Alright, the IMG is now sent to Luigi, so QuickBMS script should come in shortly
Now, it's time for something more interesting, that's definitely related to the beta. I were enable to seek a texts in the IMG file and this vehicle name list came out:
So what is very interesting there! They originally used DirectX files to convert these, or maybe just storage them inside the file. This is really important, because .x files can be easily imported (recently plugins and filters were released making this possible). Nothing is for sure yet untill we have the IMG file completely extracted.
Next up, this has to be the complete list of all the cars that excisted during the beta (not included in the demo):
So i guess that could be the same story about the directx models, for the DRIV3R PS2 and Xbox versions.
The issue is, how to decrypt and open those files

I still have the demo to this day. But....
Sorry to rain on your parade-but those are just the beta names for certain cars. Albion is the BX-9, Coyote is the Cerrano, Traveller is the Pangea etc.
Only beta vehicle in the demo is the Grand Valley with the roof.
Also, that pic is obviously the beta Namorra.
Actually-"Wombat"? "Sol-Aire"? The hell could those be?
Also, holy sh*t-TRY TO EXTRACT THE MUSIC. Could be some beta music.

I’ve allowed myself to snoop into that /racingfreak folder (obviously not to the extent that Americans did into the buildings of the European Commission), and I’ve come to the conclusion that DAMN Bulgaria is one damn ugly country! What’s the point in taking pictures of BMW’s that are ready for the press BTW? Or are these considered exotics over there? I hope you don’t live in that neighbourhood RacingFreak

Man, stop critizing other countries, probably even Austria (considered of one the best countries in the world) also has places like that. And i like those pics, i myself made similar pics of old rusty cars that are cool to me, people don't understand it but for me those cars are like art.

You seem to have a problem with me and my stuff ?
First you were not supposed to enter that folder.
Second what the hell does that have to go with the thread itself.

Really. Where is this coming from?
I haven't been on DM in a few weeks but i don't know where the hell the insults came from.
Someone fill me in. I'd like to think that he's just trolling.

sorry for the doublepost....wow at coyote's posts, that guy was a c*nt.
-cops with glock 17s
-d3 atari intro vid
-d3 bullet holes and explosions
-much heavier cars
-smarter cop ai, much more agressive
-namorra spawns in a color it doesn't in the final, same with the brooklyn
-beta grand valley with roof
-punk rocker ped spawning that in the final, only appears in one mission(dude on the bike in the mission where you prove yourself to the mexican)
-litter that comes out of trashcans/bags when you hit them is much different
-different getting hit by car anim
-prostitutes drive cars
-peds say their "almost hit by car" lines much more commonly
-red chaser cones are the same as the driv3r ones
-beta bus(only found out thanks to jan, since the bus doesn't actually spawn in the demo)
-parked cars spawning the wrong way on some streets
-different mood, cars have no reflections when they're under shadows, like in the ps2 version of driv3r and stuntman
-ps2 driv3r car refmap
-TK SPAWNS AS A PED OH GOD

-if you die, the game doesn't really pause but keeps going.
-black coated cops are much more common than their colleagues, seem to be default cops
-cops could spawn on foot
PostalDude wrote:-cops with glock 17s
I think it's the '06 M9.

Nah, the model is blockier....said model appears in the final as the model for the speedguns in the "Wheelman" mission in '78. If you kill one of Slink's guys, they'll even drop it and it'll glow. Can't pick it up however.
