Hi there.

I would like if someone wouldn't mind taking one screenshot in the day time of a palm tree near your hide out in Miami.

It's in South pointe park, the way to get there is from the parking lot near your hide out, at the back go straight on until you see some palm trees which are side to side, with a path leading to a little round hut/ seating area.

Thank you again. 8)

I forgot to mention, that this tree is a lot lower than the others around it. It's a thin palm tree.

ok, well if you can come back in an hour I'll have the image all ready.
I'm not 100% sure which tree your talking about but I'll take photos of all the different ones around that area.

Alright then, thank you. Head to the hut, with all those seats around. Um just have a look around there for a thin tree, and it's lower than the rest which it stands out. But isn't too obvious if your just passing by the area.

Well I took a close look around the area and I'm pretty sure I found the tree you wanted. I even decided to go through an entire study on the tree you were looking at.

So I've created a small directory full of images which you can take a look at.
Make sure you check them all out there is some pretty interesting stuff there.
So check out all the photos by clicking here.

The link to the most important file.

They should all be fairly helpful if your studying the way they were created.

Righty, thank you again.

It is difficult trying to get the textures, and from looking they are real palm leafs.

myblueocean is interested in the way the developers created these trees.
myblueocean wrote:Hmm, many wouldn't say that, I liked this game quite a lot at one point. But now I play it time to time, um...just observing how certain objects were created, palm trees etc

lol this is ridiculous. Why the palm trees ? Why not other kind of trees or gator's yatch, cars, houses, boats, buildings, things wich are much more difficult to programm

buildings and houses are the easyist to create, I've created them many times.
Cars, Boats are harder to create.
and the trees that are used in driv3r are actually done pretty well. In fact they are the best trees I've seen in any game. Only the flashing textures can be a bit of a turnoff however if we had access to the .max file reflections interactive created the flashing textures would happen and it could be rendered in almost any quality/resolution.

Yeh they are much Polygones, its difficult, thats true.
The Palm trees in GTA Vice City or San Andreas or not bad as well

I would have to say, Driv3r has very nice trees, as well they look better than GTA's.

I have built a 3D model car before, it wasn't easy. I have been interested in 3D, from time to time. I'm no artist though. I even wanted to make a couple of cars from Driv3r, unfortunetly that wasn't possible. Um, I will expand on my opinion now of Driv3r, I liked certain missions, the yacht one! Um, great animations, and nice 3D models such as the cars and palm trees.

The only thing what isnt nice in the game is the water.

No, actually part of the water is realistic. It may be better in Nice than Miami or Istanbul. The foam that flows, the one thing you need to also remember GTA's water and DR3's water is same. Just that they didn't work a lot on the shore part, where the waves should crash in. But then again does GTA have that?

Yes a little and in GTA you can see true the water. And it doesnt shine very much.

Well, remember Driv3r was based on realism, most GTA fans do not care or realise that. I mean for example, the water is bright because in reality if it was that sunny out there and you were on a boat wouldn't your eyes be saturated with light?

I played Driver all the way back when it came out, I was ten at that time. Then Driver 2, then Driv3r. 1999-2004 or may be 1999-2000. Considering they were different platforms, and console era.

When Tanner was gone, I didn't want anything more to do with it. I completely disliked what was on the horizon.

Yeh but in DPL with got photos of Tanner and on a wall there's "tanner lives" and "I love Tanner" so there's like a connaction to Tanner :)

I wouldn't say that. The new game if there is one, ubisoft are now the ones who will produce something. I don't know how that will workout, but it'll be for the PS3.
