2006?

I was taking a look at all my driv3r images while I was creating a few driv3r related sites and I took a close look at this one, if you save the image to your PC and zoom in you'll notice a 2006 branded on the car.

I wonder if this is some kind of clue to when and where the game was set. The cars weren't all that new but maybe the city was meant to be set in 2006. Who knows what do you think...

I'm also thinking maybe Reflections Interactive were planning to release the game in 2006 but didn't because Atari was going through some financial trouble.

Who knows that's just one of the ideas, what do you think?

NOTE: It's really hard to see so you'll need to look real closely even if your zoomed in, even the tinyist amount of light in the wrong direction will stop you from being able to see it, because it is hidden quite well in the image.

Hmm... Interesting. They might have releasted it later, if their wasnt any pressure from GTA

Pressure from "GTA" in pure reality they should be nothing to do with "GTA" if it were Reflections choice.

But I guess "Atari" always thought of it to have an opponent called "GTA".
Atari just never knew what the series really was about, lets hope ubi know what it's all meant to be about.

Very true, But it did have pressure, because GTA gave it compition

GTA isn't the competition, everyone just thinks of it as it is.
If GTA where giving it competition I'd still be playing GTA but after playing some of the game in the driver series I have gone write off GTA because I only ever liked driving in a free environment and Driver did this 100% better since GTA focused on on-foot stuff a lot more. Especially where you have to get off another ones turf or take it over and things like that.

Just while thinking of that, the pre-release screenshots of driv3r made it look like it was trying something similar, but with a different approach. "Hmm... I never made the post I thought I would, I better go and create it when I find the screenshots again".

That's the point, it doesn't involve driving as much. It includes more in game violence where as the main kind of violence there is in driv3r is in the fmvs or is found and known as car violence.

I know in driv3r you can get out of the car and shoot and parts of the game want you to do it like that but the story probably needs you to shoot them rather than the fmv's do that all the time.

Two very different games "GTA" and "Driver 3".
Two similar games "Driver 3" and "NFS"
Two more very similar games, "GTA" and "True Crime" if anything were a clone it would probably be truecrime, well it's not a clone just a little similar, true crime focuses on the violence and on foot stuff more. However in the game you are a cop so that tears the two a part a little.

and I wonder what ever happened to that game from the creators of GTA where your meant to be a cop. That was announced for late 2007 about 1 and a half years ago and I haven't herd anything ever since.

Lol IDK its al close call, but considering the game was put out in 04 Its pretty much a clean sweep; I had originally thought that it was 994 but after everyone said 06 i figured id go with the flow

Now I'm confused, now you mention it. It looks like it's 2004.
But if you never said anything I still would have thought it was 2006.
Before I ready that you thought it was 2004, I took a close look and would never think that could be a 4 on the end.

Maybe your correct and it is a 2004. The games release date and maybe that is what the game is set in or whenever it was released.

So at the moment we have found the number 2003 and 2004 to be a part of the game.

If you look around you'll find it, however I decided to create a few more images of that 2003 on that thing.

Well here are some links to those images

It defiantly was not in 2006. The game was released in 2003. It is around a modern time though. In the "Tracked" cutscene, the operating system was Microsoft Windows. There was also modern wide screen TVs on Gator's yacht. I think it takes place in 2003.
