Now that the BeamNG Techdemo was released, do you think the next Driver should have this kind of physics engine? Keep in mind that it seems that you car is pretty much toast when you have one high speed frontal crash. They could make like in the first Driver where your car is stronger than NPC cars.

In my opinion it would be a good idea as it would make the game more challenging in par with D1 and D2. On the other hand it would be frustrating for some players, i think that it would be great to set the porcentage of damage so that would appeal to more players. Also they probably would have to get rid of licensed cars and maybe increase the rating of the game due the nature of the crashes.

This looks AMAZING...but It wouldn't fit a driver game, driver is meant to be an Arcady over the top movie car chase game, this engine would go well with realistic games such as dirt or grid. While playing driver I don't want to hit 1 car during a chase and be unable to drive, I want to be sideways weaving in an out of traffic, and if i make a mistake and hit a car be able to keep going. IMO this looks brilliant but it would be going against the movie car chase gameplay driver is know for.

Finally damage modeling rivalling Flatout and Carmageddon! Yes it would be great for Driver, won't mind an old school difficulty to it

Anyways, i've been playing this since August 4th, funnily enough. They need to release a new update soon, however.

You're right, it wouldn't. Not with how "soft" the physics are, if you know what I mean. If they were a little bit more roughed-up, or so to speak, then it would work great. Would love to see some carnage on this level in a Driver game.

Car damage is awesome, but the car physics are as dumb as the ones in GTA IV where the car tries to land on his foot while in mid-air.

I personally don't think this damage modelling would suit Driver. First, as Max said, they would have to get rid of the licensed cars and I'd rather keep them. However they need to be more punishing with the damage than they were in San Fran, I didn't like the fact that a head on collision with a truck wouldn't wreck you (if you had no damage before hitting it).

If a head-on collision with a truck doesn’t wreck your car, then your game must be buggy, when I do such a crash with a track, my car has total damage For some vehicles it will take two hits however, like vans etc. which are heavier.
