Reflections sees my fan-made games...

It would be cool if Reflections saw my fan-made Driver games and based their stories off of them. That would be so cool, but it is very unlikely.

Yeah, or they could see them and sue you for using registered trademarks and copyrights.

doesn't matter if you put them in the credits, they could still sue you anyway, i mean come on, they could get the top 10 best lawyers in Britain to fight for them if they wanted to

I thought copyright was only an issue if you were selling it. If freeware is illegal too, then how did Halo Zero and Mario Forever not get sued?

any use of copyright material or ther name as it is trade marked, can only be used LEGALLY with expressed permission by the company holding the (TM) or (R), if no permission is granted, then they have cause to sue if they wish.
Just because there name gets used, doesn't mean they will get sued, it depends in which the manner it was used.

Great.

So I might as well cancel the game. Well, less work for me. I can delete those files and free up the 10GB of HD space.

i am not saying that, you can use there name and stuff, but if it brings A LOT of attention to itself it could be dangerous.. Ubisoft wont sue every Tom, Dick and Harry that uses there name on a game they make, THEY WILL however sue someone that causes a major breach of copyright law, like a website or use of in- game material or using there existing game and modifying it, and claiming as your own work and sell it. you need not to worry chris, you just asked a question, i answered it.

At least you posted that right before I was about to delete the game.

Yeah, I'd assume Ubisoft would have more to worry about than this.
It would seem kind of petty to sue you for making the game.
It would be different if you were charging for it or if the game would be a threat to the new Driver game, i.e. people would prefer your game to DTR.

Reflections overreact to a fan made game. If that's the case, Reflections, kiss your loyal fans goodbye.
