Your PSP can play PSone games.
Which means, that playing the old Driver games, portable, is possible.

I've recorded 2 videos of Driver running on PSP.
Click below! ;)
Driver 1 on PSP

(On YouTube.com)

Features

You'll see Driver 1 & 2 playing on the PSP as I described.
You'll see the gameplay of it, but -
- I've made a Movie in both Drivers, so you can see how it looks, cause, you may don't want to see me playing it while holding the cam on the same time... :P

Playing

It plays just like the PSX version.
The PC version is different and faster.
The reason to I play like a 'one handed !diot' is because I use my little fingers to press buttons, and all the others to hold the phone. Lol.

Other Notes
The video was recorded by a phone.
You'll see that it doesn't have an UMD inside.
You can't buy Driver 1 & 2 on UMD :P!
The game is saved on the Memory Stick.
It's all legal IF you own an Original Copy of the game!
You don't see me in the video! LOL! :D

That's all..Driver 2 on PSP

It would be nice to get theses games back really. I've seen them on trademe (the NZ version of ebay) for the ps1 and have been thinking about buying them, i think i might have to.

Well, we kinda got rid of them with our PS1, sorry.

Driv3r and this site though really helped me get back into driver so now i want them back. I don't have a PSP so i'll have to get them off tradme for the PS1 and buy an old crap memory card.

It's still better then No-Driver.
You still get all the action you want. :)
Anyway, getting all the Drivers, you'll get the fell as you're a "Collector"..:P

Driv3r has got very cheap over here.
You can buy 1 copy of Halo 3 = or 8 Driv3r for the same money. :S

People think that isn't some old-cheap, crap.
They. Have. No. Idea.

I think you may need a different firmware.
I've never done it before so I don't 100% know but I think you have to mount the cd as an .ISO or similar format on the pc and save it to the PSP Memory Stick, like one you got with your psp if you got one. Only bigger if you wish to play Driver 2.

Also one question, what happens when it asks you to insert disk two in Driver 2. There is really no disk and a memory card, how could the psp handle this?

Driver 2 disc 2 is The problem.

Cause, you can't just change it while it's asking you.
But saving is no problem. You got 2 free PSone memory cars avaliable.
However, it does just use the memory stick.

You need a Custom Firmware.
You need a Cracked Firmware - It's a homebrew and it's unofficial.
Which means: Of course, you can't play PSXs on a Original Sony firmware.
You can find it at http://www.psp-hacks.com

The site is legal, and talking about ISO and Game Downloading is not allowed!

The best sony firmware for PSP is v1.5.
All the others are bad and the highest is of course the worst!

The PSP slim is pretty much more advanced than the normal one, when it comes to hacking and homebrewing.

Why, did you got one?

I don't have any psp yet, but I'd perfer the psp slim due it's functionality.
And when I get the money for a psp it'll be really hard to find a older version psp. Unless I go second-hand.

by Driver911
Well, there is custom firmwares for the slim.
But it's still alot more advanced that the normal one.

Is that advanced to use or Advanced to install?
Or better than previous custom firmwares?

You know Sony: They make thier own things.
Their own cables, wires, even disc! like the UMD, and all that Blu-Ray thing, and their own Blu-Ray players. Even thier cellphones use different types of USB sticks!!!

So, they've taken the security (or what they call it) some steps higher than before.

So Now, it's harder to crack the Slim.
They've putting so many things that protect the original firmware and trying to crack it can result a 'brick'!

Finding the exact install file can be hard, but installing shouldn't be a problem.

But, remember, you're always taking a risk when doing something like that.
90/93 of 100 PSPs always survive through the installation.

Yeah, changing firmware and chipping consoles can be fairly risky. If your not sure what your doing you could completely screw your console up.

So it's always good to take some precautions.
I actually thought sony was going to allow us to play lots of popular ps1 games on the psp. However they only did it for some mainly destruction derby, not driver 1 or 2. But maybe that was because it was a downloadable game and the game was only 8MB and that's why they may have only done this for Destruction Derby.

Posted: Thu Oct 18, 2007 9:26 pm
by Driver911
Well, I have played the original Destruction Derby to PSP too.
But, It was alot bigger than 8MB.

Well, sony can be a little strange and stupid sometimes.
Like the UMD movies, they were as expensive as real DVD movies!?
What was sony thinking!?

Yeah, I'm amazed UMD movies got as far as they did.
But it was a fairly good idea, fitting movies onto small disks which are playable on the psp a portal device.

However with the ability to play movies on a memory stick it was a pretty silly idea. However was great for those who aren't really all that good with that type of software.

On the other hand I believe blu-ray is a good idea mainly because it can deliver higher definition quality via the PS3 and blu-ray players as well as the extended data available to developers for their games.

Whenever I have time to stream I'll check your videos out.

Driver911 why did you remove the videos ? A guy on driver-dimension doesn't believe in this and I have to show him that it works.
And do you have the PAL version of the game and/or the PSP or the NTSC ? You and me we are European, and as you probably know, in Europe we all use PAL but that guy there tells me that it only works with the NTSC version (He found that on a site about PSP's, he says it's one of the best sites …).

Haha! Really? Well, the videos are still here... Somewhere on my desktop.
Hmm..

I give madness the videos so he can upload 'em to this site, so it's gonna be public on drivermadness..:)
