Beta Differences list.

Here are some things I've noticed in videos and on the internet and just in lotsa places, thanks also go to gamersin for his Euro D2 beta video.

1. Gray cars were driving/parked in the cities, not just in "missions" and "Driving games".

2. Cars drove normally in the:
Havana Ghost-Street
Havana Church Roundabout
Havana Compound
Ghost Town

3. There were Time/Weather differences and maybe choosable? Not just Day/Night and not only in missions.

4. Beta cars, the topic someone posted earlier.

5. Trucks, buses, etc drove all around the city and near where you start too (Havana)

Please add more if you notice anything else I've missed. :)

I posted a topic on Driver-Dimension with all pictures and stuff that I was able to find here.

There's no such topic on here I think (which sums it all up), so maybe it's a good opportunity to start one.

If only I spoke french. :'( Stupid Icelandic.... :(

But yeah, I noticed another topic with the name below but that wasn't a list, this is more of a list of what I have personally found so it's not the same as the other topic even though it shares the name.
I agree, It's time to dig up stuff like this.

God I love Peugeot 309s <3

From the playable Beta/Demo:

Frames Per Second (without Fraps) are 22-28 FPS (retail has an average of 17 FPS)
Traffic was less diverse (Obvious since it's a beta)
Diffirent buildings, some not solid
Vehicle textures where unfinished
Cop car, slightly diffirent model (not yet confirmed) and diffirent (but finished texture).
Music is used in Las Vegas in retial.
Secret car didnt exist yet, instead you see a rocket in the garage (possibly due to a beta mission about the Cuban missile crisis)
Game crash in garage/compound if entered (NTSC only)
Some engine and collision sounds may be diffirent.
Water is not rendered, can be driven on without sinking (may crash in NTSC version)(Hall OF Mirrors effect occurs)
Ferry has no texture.
Draw distance was longer opposed to retail.
Unfinished skybox.
Collision detection in tunnels is unfinished, touching the wall will warp you on top of the tunnel or back to mainland.
Some road textures may be missing.
Texture's may random corrupt and turn back to normal sometimes.
Texture/models may warp on the edge of your field of view (also happens in full version to a degree).
Unfinished pathfinding for cops
All roads (except the Church area) are actually driven on, including the road to the compound.
Cops tend to spawn in groups of 3 or 4 (in pursuit) instead of 2. 1 or 2 may simaltaniously spawn when inactive.
No skybox when in a tunnel (the Hall Of Mirrors effect occurs)
Cops use a constant nitro boost so it seems...
Some hidden tunnels may exist
Game tends to crash with a delay when coming close to the compound (about 1 to 2 minutes, heavy lag may announce it) (only tested in NTSC)

If only it was like that in the Final Version.. ofcourse always the final ver has to suck a bit more. :P (still sick as hell but some stuff in the beta were more awesome. I also think this means the same with other cities, people drove in Urcha and the ghost-crossing in Rio.

That sounds REALLY exciting.. I wonder where they are ! :O

As far as i know, 1 is found, not by myself but I forgot who found it.

Damn I wish there was a playable beta for Chicago (same build), would have loved to drive in a less grey scaled Chicago...

As for the tunnels there's a video on Youtube somewhere, the video is called something with catacombs because apparently someone thought it looks like that, basically it's nothing more than some tunnels like the one where the Mini is located. It's not so far away either actually. And if I remember correctly, the entry of that tunnel is in a tunnel (a big one) as well, or maybe even at the entry of that big tunnel.

There's a spot where there's no collides on the wall and you can go through the wall of that tunnel, and then you'd land in the smaller, secret tunnel :)

I think at some point it gets buggy and the game crashes however.

Yeah, you drive through the wall in the big tunnel to drive onto a passageway.. which leads to the Secret car compound.. but the game crashes when you are near it.

Not sure if this has been posted, but Tanner had a walk button, and he could destroy clutter like boxes, bins, etc. :)

That's definitely something new to me. How'd you find out about the clutter?

That is in an even older build then I have. Also didn't the feet "talk" in the pre-demo build?

edit: BTW: mind sharing the build with talking feet?

After I found that he could produce sparks and crashing sounds when he walks into buildings and walls, I walked up to a pile of boxes and was able to knock them over. He's basically a car on legs.

Yes, it's the build found in "Euro Demo 64". I'll PM you a link to it.

Something to ad from the playable demo: every vehicle has the same handling, even the flatbed.
And the damage model is way more sensitive then in the release version (2 or 3 solid hits from the cops knock you out).

oh my god GUYS! Just found the video I was talking about, there you can see Beta Havana (gameplay) and Rio!!!! but what I noticed was.. cars parked ALL AROUND the church in Havana and a car driving.. just like I said in the "Ghost-Street in Havana" topic. :)
Here it is.

1:10 - 1:13,
You can see a BETA DARK-RED COLOR for the Yellow sedan. (screenshot below) and you can also see more parked cars. :)

I suppose the cars driving around the church was just done "like that" or maybe for testing purposes, because there's no way to get out of that area except through that tiny spot where only one car fits, so how would cars be supposed to get out of there? :P
It's completely normal that they also did roads with no cars, every Driver game has them.

And I never understood what's the deal with parked cars around the church? In my game there are plenty of cars parked around the church :)

Edit: I even did a screenshot for you. 3 parked cars around the church :)

Image

Edit 2: After continuing to drive around in that area I noticed there's other exits, so forget the thing about "they wouldn't be able to get out"… :)

I must note that the only Rio gameplay is the intro (a video), and indeed whats the deal with that Church lol

Nice find. I just hope that the same car in the demo has this palette.

I know that this is about the beta and final version, but here's something interesting about the 2 demos, the earlier build had more mission scripts than the later build. :)

They "were supposed" to do what they do in the final game otherwise they would have changed that :P Maybe they did at some point but I think it's better this way, seriously it's creepy to have dozens of cars driving around on a cemetery. It should be a quiet place, maybe with a few cars parked there (which they left) :)

Yeah, I have to agree with you on that, would have been more cool if there were only parked cars in the 4 streets leading to the other streets. :P
