Let's describe our first moments with this game
So, here's my story.
That was back in 2010. Last games I had bought were DPL and Liberty City Stories in 2006, so 4 years ago already. I had already bought D76 in 2007, don't know if you can count this. Anyway, so one day I decided to check Driver-Dimension to see where the new Driver game was at. A few trailers were already available. The first one I had watched was the CGI one on the Golden Gate. Sadly, I thought that this was in-game back then. It looked perfect to me except that cars were moving a bit too quickly. Following that, I watched the E3 video.
I must say, I was a bit disappointed (I'm saying all that from my posts back in 2010 on DD
). I didn't really like the idea of shift, but like Martin Edmondson said, it's something to get used to. So I gave it a chance. I even wrote that I will most likely buy it, and that it's actually not even that bad. Some things that I disliked were: Porsche's (RUFs) everywhere, and those red / blue trails. I never liked such things. It's like nitrous going out of the taillights in NFS MW / Carbon etc. Sadly this wasn't changed…
I don't know why, but I had completely forgotten the Driver world then. I guess I was too busy.
By the time in early 2012 I had several iPhone games which made me a total addict. Especially Doodle Jump, which is playable online also, and I also liked the UNO game which was online as well! I decided I wanted a game for the Mac, an online game. I looked into various games but nothing appealed to me. I really wanted something that I could play online, with friends. I started watching DSF videos for fun on Youtube. I thought it looked fantastic! I loved the real cars, the online modes, just everything…
In March 2012 the admin of DD showed me a link to a site that was selling DSF for basically nothing (for Mac). And guess what, I bought it!
The next morning, after the download had finished, I absolutely fell in love with the game… I still remember, I was first totally impressed by the quality of the game. The looks of the Dodge Challenger, the oh-so-detailed taillights. Well it was my first Next-Gen game hehe
And then when I got hooked.
Still playing it every day. It's my single game and I don't even play games anymore
But this is just so crazy!!!
Sadly, the feeling of the first times I've seen the game is starting to fade away. It does still give me goosebumps, but those memories that I had almost a year back when I started watching those videos on Youtube are less "intense" now. This is one of the videos that I loved watching:
Just loved everything about it, the summer-ish feeling, the Trance song in the background with the pads, the whole game
I probably had this feeling also because it just became spring
Other videos I watched was one with a Dodge Grand Caravan, and one with a Porsche 911 (the old one) that had to be delivered.
That's my DSF story
Amazing game. I hope I have the same goosebumps again when I'll be driving new cars in a new city in the next Driver.
