People say how dark it is, etc. but the thing is the game was made for consoles and was therefore also tested on consoles (and on TV screens, not computer monitors).
It wasn't ported very "well" as many things are wrong. For example the loading screens tell about a split screen mode, and so does the back of the box, but this only applies for console versions.
Another one is the lightning… my Mac is connected to my TV (a 40" Panasonic Plasma TV, full HD and all that stuff) and the game just looks fantastic on it. It looks even better than console versions because it doesn't have the yellowish filter. All colours are correct when I play on the TV, it's just fantastic, can't say more.
And that's the problem. It was made for that kind of screens, not for computer monitors. My Mac screen is already pretty damn good (it's a 27" with a resolution of 2560 x 1440 — the game even supports this resolution and it already looks so good!) but when I play on the TV and come back to play on the Mac, I always get this little shock.
The answer is that they simply didn't bother adapting it.
So, if you're about to buy a new screen, or if your computer isn't far away from your TV, and if you'd like to play while you're in your bed under your blanket, then there's your solution!
