Discussion for Driver: San Francisco (2011)

People say how dark it is, etc. but the thing is the game was made for consoles and was therefore also tested on consoles (and on TV screens, not computer monitors).

It wasn't ported very "well" as many things are wrong. For example the loading screens tell about a split screen mode, and so does the back of the box, but this only applies for console versions.

Another one is the lightning… my Mac is connected to my TV (a 40" Panasonic Plasma TV, full HD and all that stuff) and the game just looks fantastic on it. It looks even better than console versions because it doesn't have the yellowish filter. All colours are correct when I play on the TV, it's just fantastic, can't say more.

And that's the problem. It was made for that kind of screens, not for computer monitors. My Mac screen is already pretty damn good (it's a 27" with a resolution of 2560 x 1440 — the game even supports this resolution and it already looks so good!) but when I play on the TV and come back to play on the Mac, I always get this little shock.

The answer is that they simply didn't bother adapting it.

So, if you're about to buy a new screen, or if your computer isn't far away from your TV, and if you'd like to play while you're in your bed under your blanket, then there's your solution! :)

I prefer the console versions over the PC version. Hell, Tanner's Challenger looks orange-ish in the PC version rather than yellow, and no, it's not a problem with the monitor. And the grain filter and HDR from the consoles are nice too (come on, it wouldn't hurt to add an option to turn on or turn off this effect in the Options menu, it's pure laziness from the port team).

Yes Nick, it is definitely a problem with the screens ;) Computer screens don't work the same way TV screens do. Have you seen the screenshots I posted recently? On my TV, Tanner's Challenge is pure yellow (and when I mean on my TV, I mean the game running my Mac which is connected to my TV, therefore the Mac version played on the TV) plus the game doesn't have the ugly yellowish filter. It's much more "clear" also :)

And yes, the port team was very lazy. Hence the game lightning wasn't adapted.

They also didn't adapt the film look, with noise effect and all that, as if it was played on a film reel or something. I wish they would've added them optional for people to choose. Everyone would be satisfied.
I'm not satisfied with it, which is one of the reasons I prefer console version over PC.
