Reflections Visit

Hi chaps, I have just finished a visit to Ubisoft Reflections on behalf of the Driver Madness community, and I can confidently report that driver san francisco is going to kick arse! The visit involved playing the games first few missions and some of the multiplayer modes aswell as meeting the team, including Martin Edmonson, Marie-Jo Leroux and Jean-Sebastian Decant.

I have also recorded a bit of footage I hope to edit tonight showing gameplay footage and a tour of the studio. I also put some of your questions to the team and had a bit of a chat over lunch. From this I can confirm that the PC game will be a port (highly optimised), with DRM and thus it will not be mod-friendly. Regarding the cars, I can assure you there are no french cars in the game however the full car list has not been released.

I expected already that it wont be mod-friendly, it's an "tradition" for the Driver series.Anyway I do want to see your footage.

I will be happy as long as the singleplayer campaign really is the 10 to 12 hours as they said. I'm not a multiplayer type of guy.

No french cars? At least they could add a Peugeot 205 T16

Can't wait to see the footage of the studio!

As some may know, I also went to the same visit - I posted a comment with some details over on IGCD. I will also be posting a single player and multiplayer hands-on and a multiple part interview with Martin Edmondson which lasted over an hour!

They gave us a few token Driver gifts which contained the following:

Image

Driver: San Francisco comic book
Limited Edition Driver poster of the comic book's cover (mine is number 142 out of 400) signed by the illustrator
Driver: San Francisco USB stick. Again this is quite rare as it was intended as a promotional item for when the game was meant to come out last year - I was told they only had 7 left in the studio, some of which they gave to us.
Driver: San Francisco t-shirt (always wanted one of those!)
Ubisoft note book

And being the fanboy that I am, I couldn't resist asking Martin to sign my collection:

I still haven't finished all of the transcription to be honest, there's rather a lot to go through and I have a full time job on top. I think we might be having a "Driver Week" on DGP for it, so I imagine that will be either next week or the week after depending on when it gets done. Either way I'll let you guys know :)

Hope it will be worth the wait - there's going to be honest single player and multiplayer impressions and possibly one of the most in-depth reviews with Martin Edmondson, including his thoughts on the original Driver games and some personal insight about him!

Yeah, take your time Martin (with more time we will enjoy reading more about your visit), it will be awesome to read your impressions about the game and the emotion of being on Reflections studio. :)

Oh lawds, VW Scirocco.
They didn't cut the Alfa MiTo or the 159?!
Game looks fawkin' impressive otherwise. Totally dig that '76 Firebird. LOL @ the DTS swerving up onto the sidewalk and right as it was about to hit that sidewalk clutter, the camera changed.

Nice video! Though I thought we weren't allowed to publish material from inside the studio that shows dev screens?

Would it be ok if I posted your video over on Driving Games Pro in the run up to my coverage? I shall of course link over to Driver Madness.

Also found a way for Europeans to celebrate July 4th ;) http://drivinggamespro.com/featured/happy-driver-day/
