Using a controller with Driver PC

Has anyone had any luck with this? The game simply crashes on level load if it even detects a PS4 controller. I've tried also routing it through DS4Windows with no luck.

I'm not sure about Dualshock 4, but I have been told by other users recently of that exact crash problem when trying to connect it. Perhaps you could try to run each application (DS4Windows and Driver) with administrator rights? I have been using a Dualshock 3 with a similar application called AntiMicro, which has worked near flawlessly. I highly recommend that you give it a shot, as it supports DS4s and could potentially fix the issue. :specialdriver:

If the controller is simply connected to the computer, the game crashes on level load. Unless there was a way to totally hide the controller from the game, AntiMicro unfortunately will not solve this issue.

Running with admin rights doesn't change anything unfortunately.

What game version do you have? One of the later patches released for Driver added joystick and analog/digital options for controllers. I feel like that (or lack thereof perhaps?) could potentially be causing the crashing, but I can't say for sure. It's hard for me to tell since I've never experienced that issue.. Either way, I suggest that you try the repack version or my own version and see if they fix the issue. The repack version in particular is the most up to date version you can find of Driver.

I have an updated executable with DRM stripped. But it's some incompatibility in the way Windows or the gamepad driver handles the device. Nevertheless, I found the solution. You can use HIDHide to cloak the Windows wireless controller device and DS4Windows supports hiding the virtual controller. With both devices hidden, Driver's keymap can be converted to the gamepad, like @burritoo suggested, except in this case DS4Windows natively supports that too. The only drawback is losing real analog control; not a dealbreaker for me.
