Tanner smashed up his car in Frisco, that much we know. But one of Castaldi's guys says "we think the cops got him..."
Unless Slater admitted he was working for Castaldi when the police and ambulances arrived at the scene of the crash or after he was taken to hospital, I don't see how else he would have gone to jail for a hit and run where he is the victim.
We know Tanner sold out Castaldi and his gang, so it doesn't matter whether Slater ratted on them too or not, so, and correct me if I'm wrong, there's no evidence to suggest he even did go to prison.
In the cutscene prior to the mission, Tanner is taking a file from a cabinet, and hears somebody running down the hallway. What was that file? I didn't see any references later on in the game.
Slater was never mentioned again in the series, as far as I'm aware.
