Windows 8/8.1 Fix and Music Fix!

It has been a long time since I have posted here and I felt the need to share my findings.

Windows 8/8.1 Performance fix

The game runs very poorly on windows 8/8.1 due to DirectDraw being deprecated. There is an easy way to fix this. Simply download the ddraw.dll from this link: http://www.mediafire.com/download/5poof ... PS_FIX.zip and place the ddraw.dll in the same directory as Game.exe and the game should run nice and smooth.

Music Fix

I have found a way to completely solve the music problem and, as an added bonus, this fix will play the music from your hard drive instead of the disc.

First download the program _inmm.dll from this link: http://www.geocities.co.jp/Playtown-Domino/8282/ (Click on the blue text that says "_inmm.dll Ver. 2.38")

Extract and install the program.

Now, you will need to rip the audio tracks from the game cd. Just use a program you are comfortable working with or find a program with google. I would suggest extracting them as mp3's because that is what worked perfectly for me. I'm sure other formats will work fine as well.

I would also suggest putting the tracks in a folder named "Music" in the game's directory, just to be organized.

Here's the tricky part. You will need to open both the directory where the game is installed and the directory where the _inmm.dll program is installed. Once you have both directories open, click and drag Game.exe onto _inmmcnf.exe. You should see a small dialog box asking you if you wish to patch the .exe of the game. Select yes, and you should see a message saying patch successful. You're almost done at this point.

NOTE: You will see a file named "Game.org". This is the original unpatched copy of game.exe.

Now, open _inmmcnf.exe. In the small window that appears, select the drop down selection next to default and select "DirectShow". Click Apply.

NOTE: Make sure to have _inmmcnf.exe to run as administrator in compatibility settings or the fix will not work.

Now its time to make the magic happen.

In the same window, select the _inmm.dll tab. Click add and navigate to where you have the ripped music tracks. Select all of them and click OK. Make sure they are in order from 2 to 10. Finally, click on save and save the _inmm.ini file into the same directory as Game.exe.

That's it! Try the game without the CD now and the music should play perfectly. You might need a no cd patch.

Could we have a link to the music? This is great but I have a version with no music at all.

Two typos in the OP however - "2 to 10" should be "1 to 10", and " _inmm.dll tab" should be "_inmm.ini tab"

No, it is 2 -10 because 1 is the data track. And I just checked myself, It is indeed an underscore and not a hyphen. No typos.

It would appear the links to ddraw.dll is also down.

Driver doesn't user a data track, at least it doesn't in this instance. Track 1 is the main menu music.

Driver does use a data track just like all pc games. Track 1 is always a data track. It's just the way CD's work. Track 2 is the main menu music. Track 1 holds the installer, FMV's, etc.

They say a picture's worth a million words:

Also, playing back track 2 indeed results with the main menu theme.

I have them labeled from 1 to 10 and I have no problems whatsoever. Probably because I have a torrent from 2008 with no FMVS +a NoCD. If you were to play the retail game with the disk in the drive, yes, the data track would actually be used.

The image was taken from a program called CDMage running on a windows 7 pc.

I know. I can infer that from the icons alone. What i'm trying to say is, the data track is unneeded with a NoCD and a bootleg torrent that doesn't even have the FMVS.
Had a friend hook me up with the FMVS, placed them right in the main directory of the game in a folder named "FMVDATA", they work fine ingame with a NOCD, meaning there's no data track active.

Obviously there is no data track if you aren't playing with the CD. I was confused because initially you never said you were playing without the CD and you said I was wrong about the audio tracks.

My bad, it's just everyone I know uses a NOCD crack on non Steam games.

He meant to say it should be "_inmm.ini tab" NOT "_inmm.dll tab".

Hey guys, I brought to you the Driver 1 PSX Soundtracks.
I am sure most of you prefer psx soundtracks more that pc version.

http://www.mediafire.com/download/0yixi ... tracks.rar

but we need someone to test it, and see how the PSX soundtracks will work with PC version of the game. For me I didn't know how the music will change, if the cops start chasing you.

tl;dr version - it won't work. PC version just loops one track over and over for each .lev

which compatibility setting do I use? and why does my pc think this Notorious B.I.G? instead of extracting thme as track01 02 03 etc. it extracts them as song names from the life after death album

Your audio ripper is contacting a media database and giving erroneous information, thereby getting erroneous information in return. No big deal. You should be able to rename them.

I'm working on an upgrade for this mod. Stay tuned.

I did and I got the tracks to play from my hard drive it's just really annoying when It extracts them as notorious B.I.G tracks all the time

All the time? You should really only need to rip and rename them once :specialdriver: Just keep 'em on a USB stick or external HDD for future use.
