Driver Madness

Alright, as seen in my blog, I decided to get searching for Driver beta info. Let's use this topic to post info we find on this one game.

My found info as of this post:
1. The damage and felony bars weren't labelled in some versions of the beta.


2. In some versions, they were, but labelled differently.


3. Cops were differently styled.


4. Of course, the black-and-yellow GSX.


5. Different Menu Style (early beta)


6. Differently-styled timer


7. Camera angle
(seen in last pic)

8. Different Mission Ending Screen


9. Driving on water


10. Beta Music in use/different car sounds/stationary arrow 11. Very creepy loading screen found in a beta ISO, never used.

Maybe we could try to contact someone who worked on the first Driver and ask him about the development of it. E.g: stuff that was removed, early ideas. Maybe even try to ask them to give us some old pics and artworks!

You guys sure come up with a lot of interesting DRIVER game things to see and listen to.

It does look like Tony Montana. 'Cept he's eyeless.

Another interesting thing: Look at the radar in Picture 4. It's in a different style than the current radar.

Lets just say, i have a demo disc in my hand with 2 replays of the yellow and buick gsx on it. Looked into the disc and there seem to be data files on it (replay files, sky background images etc) , therefore meaning there is the possibility there are textures of the car on it and other things on it.

I have taken screenshots of images from the replays but dunno how to attach them. Tell me how to look into this data and ill make a topic showing the findings i have found. By the way there seem to be women pedestrians in this so...quite interesting. Ill now check and see if the replay files will work on the PC version!

If you have a disc with the yellow buick in it I would be very interested in getting a hold of that iso, as I can probably extract the textures (Dr. Doom can also do this). For images you can upload them to photobucket under the account drivertextures and pass 123abc (might be abc123). If you can upload the iso then you'll need to use somewhere like filefactory or the like.

very interesting post,i've seen it before but i didn't post it

Also the pause menu is different, the boats are not solid and the npc's can walk on water, also the non drivable civilian cars can drive on water without getting stuck.

I thought if civilian cars don't get stuck in the water you also can drive in the water without gettting stuck

Not in the beta, you get stuck and fail the mission, and strange how only half of Miami is in the demo. I think in later demos the whole of Miami is there but still without barriers for the water. Here is the link to the download I made an iso image of it. one of the demos there should be driver.

I don't know i think that they are solid in the later version of the PS1 demo.
