I think myspace is a big con, I have a little more respect for Facebook but don't use it. I don't trust social networking on the internet at this stage.

I trust on Facebook. Mainly because only who added you as a friend, and you accepted can see your profile. I don't remember if it's the same with MySpace.

no with myspace it can be viewed by all, but you can make it hidden or hidden to all over 18, although by default everyone under 16 has theirs hidden

Well, Facebook is different. Facebook is for closed communities between friends, familys and co-workers. It's not like that that everyone can see your profile. And I agree with madness, myspace is just crap. It's slow, it looks weird, and it's not really fun..

Yeah but employers now use facebook to ask your friends what they think about you and if your a good worker. Plus a lot more im WAAYYY to lazy to write right now.. But Im going to stick with myspace. To me its the best way to talk with my friends n sh*t.

Yea that's right, I remember I got a job once at a radio station and I had to redesign their site, I've talked to the boss and he asked me if I had facebook ( I didn't at the time ). They don't really use it to ask your friends how good you are at your job ( well maybe that too, idk ) but it's more like a page with personal stuff about you and informations they can easily get. Like for people who don't have their own portfolio and CV. And I also know a film-director / fashion designer who uses facebook for his job.

But it also depends from where you live. Here, neither Facebook nor MySpace are that popular, even if they're gaining more popularity since the last year, and here almost everyone use *cough Orkut cough*.

Orkut is another social networking "shite" created by Google. It has a lot of security issues, like Trojans, No privacy, Hate groups, fake scripts to give "more performance" and other sh*t like that. And I don't understand why is it so popular here:

I have a myspace and a facebook, but whilst myspace is slower, facebook has more virus issues... I can't use half of the things on there because they shut down my laptop

myspace and facebook have the same virus issues, the only reason facebook's are more noticeable to you is 1. you have crap anti virus, and 2. facebook is flash based where myspace is web2.0 based

1. My anti-virus protected my laptop from a virus that attacked both yours and the other person's.
2. Some parts of myspace are flash based. Applications and whatnot. Not all of facebook is. In fact, I think most of facebook isn't. Plus, I am on a site everynite that is flash-based, and I'm doing fine with it, so I'm pretty sure that isn't the reason.

no the new facebook is flash based, hence the pop up windows, and its easier to embed a virus in a flash item then on the new web standed web2.0, yes myspace also has pop up windows, but tom also wrote in a blog myspace was going going web2.0

Well, I'm saying that Facebook viruses affect me more. Myspace ones may affect you more, I'm not going to say that facebook is better or worse. It might just be me.

Facebook has more applications, and I'm guessing that Harlequin's virus issues based on the applications.

I never use the apps in facebook. I just check everyday if they are new friend requests or notifications and that's it, I don't or almost don't change my page anymore.

My virus issues come from other things on facebook...Like opening it...
But I've recently done a virus scan, so my computer is all nice and clean now and upgraded, so I'm all good now
