Answer the poll to the resolution your using at the moment on your PC.
If your using a Widescreen or a screen not to the ratio of 4:3 please post your current resolution and select 'Not Mentioned'.

This very short poll which enable me to fit the site into the perfect resolution that most people use, otherwise you'll find yourself scrolling all over the place.

I'm hoping the average is 1024x768
and a lot of people have 1240x1024
and no lower :)

DPLkickASS! LOL, hey, man. Good to see you here, then.

Everything looks too small for me to read at anything higher than 800x600. I mean, I know one can adjust the size of stuff in the desktop settings, but the appearance of things offline becomes a bit unsightly to me on my computer then. And I realize also that one can adjust the size of text in Internet Explorer (the browser I use), but when I switch to a higher resolution and bigger text settings in IE, some web page text becomes larger, but not all of it, so that doesn

Yeah, I only included 4:3 (letterbox) resolutions.
Yours is a 16:9 widescreen.

I also have a 1680x1050 now, got mine at the start of the year.
Now webpages look so small, at least these forums adapt to my wide resolution.
Miller wrote:Almost all the places I visit online besides tech sites and game sites have pages 800 wide, it seems. Even Amazon.com, where I shop often, has gone to a wider page than 800, though. That must be an indication of what is the norm, I guess. It would appear that I need to adapt to the times and trends, but I do not yet know how to resolve the issues I have experienced so far using higher resolutions than 800x600 to browse the Internet..
Yeah, 1024x768 is the online standard now. Online websites/scripts are usually pretty adaptive to those larger. But those below can be a little harder to adapt to.

There are achually a lot of sites which don't adapt to my widescreen screen and you end up with this very, tiny and skinny webpage.

Thanks for the replies, boss.

Oh, really? That's a bummer for me.

Is there a difference in this sort of thing depending on which Internet browser you are using, boss? I never tried that Firefox one. Why is it safer, because IE is more prevalent and that's what people try to create malicious software to attack because they can hit more browsers that way or something?

That was funny when you were typing that Google was launching a web browser at the same time I was making a post asking if you tried it yet. So, did you, then?

I am not averse to trying new things on the PC. I guess I will consider trying out some different web browsers. You say that more than one kind can be simultaneously installed without creating conflicts, then?

I've been using Google Chrome for a while now.
Infact, I'm using it now :D

At the moment I have most of the browsers install on my PC.
-Internet Explorer 6
-Firefox 2 & 3
-Opera 9.5
-Google Chrome

-Safari (I did have on my laptop until I reinstalled windows)
-Internet Explorer 7 (somehow installed its self on my laptop)

I cannot seem to choose which one is the best.
I can easily tell you Internet Explorer 6 is the worst.
Internet Explorer 7 self-installed on my computer and I could no longer use Internet Explorer because it overwrites the working Internet Explorer 6. Plus! when I did get IE7 working it ran pretty slowly.

Google Chrome is really good, but still has a few little bugs here and there, but I still use it 80% of the time now.

I usually share between Opera and Firefox.

When my computer freezes I can load up firefox and all my open windows will be there.

Opera is better because you can save everything you have open, which is really handy. Because sometimes I have a hundred tabs open and when I need to turn off my computer I need to bookmark all the tabs before I close the program.

Firefox, Opera and IE seem to use up 100% CPU and become instable.
Google Chrome seems to run much better, it also makes use of my cpus hyper-processing and will work even better with Dual-Cores.

If I were to make I recommendation:

Firefox, Opera, Safari, Google Chrome for security and reliability.
Firefox, Google Chrome for Spell Check. (spell check is pretty bad in chrome, but at least it has it).

Google Chrome
Opera, Safari and Opera
in no particular order, there all pretty good.
I just have never had any good experiences with IE.
Just that it seems compatible with more pages, and the fact it comes with windows and no install is needed.

the only problem i have with chrome is that it runs as a full screen app, so i have to press the windows key to check my taskbar, and it also disables the msn sounds so i have no idea when i get a new message on it

i am always using Firefox 3

For me, the only problem with Chrome is that it's beta, and I don't like beta programs on my PC, so I'll stick with Firefox 3 and Netscape for now.

I don't think there is a problem with it being in BETA.
Look at GMAIL it's been in BETA for five years now.
Yahoo Mail has been in BETA for two years now.
The true definition of BETA is dieing, it almost means continuing development these days.

But yeah, there really is no problem waiting a year, as they will have discovered a fair few bugs and fixed them up.

You said that you have to bookmark all your tabs when you turn off your computer, that's not true, Firefox can save sessions and when you open it next time it asks you if you wish to open a new session or to use the last session. Firefox is the best browser for me !

Well I press ctrl-alt-delete and end the Firefox process to simulate computer malfunction. So it acts as if the computer froze up and when I run the program again I get all my tabs back.

Firefox 2 doesn't do this.
Perhaps, Firefox 3 does and I haven't really used it too much.

With Opera you can save unlimited sessions and save them as files.
Rather than opening your last session 8) . Google Chrome doesn't have this but I hope they add it in the future.

Firefox is a good browser, but I think Chrome is a lot better.
