- DriverWiki
About a month ago I started the DriverWiki I am still working on it piece by piece. I have finally set up the wiki and am organising the basic structure. I plan to completly organise the structure by starting off all nessesary pages until I make it publicly avaliable. I'm hoping to make this avaliable by the end of this year. Proably earlier.

- Mirrors
I have finished a D1, DPL, D76 and DV official site mirror, I have mostly finished the d2 mirror and I am missing major elements of the d3 mirror which I'm still looking for.!

- More Flags in Profile
I have added a few more requested flags to the profile page!

- DRIV3R Movie
I have taken the time to start the DRIV3R Movie, it's going to be a lot more special than was originally planned. More news coming soon.

- Flash Mini-Games
I have been working on some more minigames but at the time I'm focusing more of my time on other things.

- Download Database
I have taken the time to upload many of the driver related files and am still in the process I'm uploading many more to make the download database complete.

Update 03/11/07:
I have mostly updated the download section of this site. However I am still in the process of searching older files, which cannot be found on the internet at the moment.

- Photo Album
The photo album hasn't been in working order for quite sometime. I've gone back and have checked all possible problems and found a resolution. I have deleted all the images and I'm in the process of rebuilding the database.

- Driver Video (Forum Integration)
Driver Video is all up and running, make sure you read the rules and find the template to use when uploading your driver related video.

- Driver Talk forums (sub-forums)
I've set up all the sub forums, I just need to correct and stabilize the permissions, and I also need to make clear what each sub forum does and what it's primary use is.

- 403 Forbidden Error (for most users)
A very annoying error which I have a few of hosts working on, I'm hoping this issue will be resolved soon. (I've moved to a new host and this error shouldn't appear. If it does please contact me asap.

Update 19/04/07:
Forbidden Errors have been fixed, just making sure everyone can successfully connect to the site.

- Improved Driver Chatroom
I've set up the chat room I just need to intergreat it into the portal system and I want to edit some of the styles a little bit.

These things take time, and in fact I have to re learn how to do it as I forgot how to work macromedia flash's action script, however I'm slowly learning it again. Hopefully when I get more time in the holidays which runs 2 weeks and I have 14 spare days to do things like this, unless I decided to delete all the spam user accounts, however that should only take a day.

And how about I make more mini games a High Priority.

lol, yeah... I posted that ages ago and I was just about to edit it before you made your post :P then I moved on doing something else as I said before but never put in that post is that I'm raising the date for another 3 months or so, in fact I might change to release date to have the site completed by the end of May as I'd like to get it complete before Driver: Parallel Lines is released.

New idea [if it isnt already listed]
change the forum from a default look to a deep color like A.C. like a deep blue or a deep red

I would say a Driver 76 look. Cause its the newest one

Yea true but i still thank we should go with a classic atari theme from AC

I can make them all and then we can decide which one looks best and use that as the default.

and then each user can choose which one suits them best.

Unfortunately it isn't finished yet and it's almost been a week and a half. But we should be able to expect it just before the release of Driver: Parallel Lines which isn't far away at all.
Sedans wrote:Yea true but i still thank we should go with a classic atari theme from AC
Currently I'm working on a Driver 3 and Driver: Parallel Lines style, and whenever I get the time I may also work on a Driver: 76, Driver: LA Undercover, Driver: Vegas, Driver 2 and Driver style but all this really depends on how popular this site becomes because if there aren't that many people to see it there is no point spending 100's of hours creating it.

But once again if that is the case I usually still do it all within the end.
Fluffyducky wrote:the bloody Driv3r background music! that should be number 1!
Unfortunately this topic is only for sites and site components in development in the driver madness network, if I were to add every single download I'm working on it'd take ages so I only include the really big projects, later on in the future I may start adding smaller projects to the list it's really dependent.

madness (in http://www.drivermadness.p4h.biz/main/viewtopic.php?t=203) wrote:Release Date: 1st April 2007
The Driver Modding project is one of the largest projects I've undergoing right next to the dpl-list. Unfortunately to the lack of a proper internet connection the development process is taking longer and longer. However I have learn't a few more things and I'll be able to make the site even better on it's final release. So it should turn out like a pretty good site with loads of content when I'm able to get to it.

Currently I'm thinking about setting up an emulated web development system on my laptop so I can work on the site anywhere. Even on my long journey in the holidays.

[hr]

There are also many other projects I haven't mentioned, I'm not sure if I'll list them all because it would take to long but the site does seem pretty boring and I'm working on changing this with loads of static content and a flashier version of this news/portal/forum.

But more of that later on for now I better get back to creating the future of Driver Madness

Some were discussing the appearance of the Driver Madness website, to which Madness replied:
madness wrote:I can make them all [themes or whatever] and then we can decide which one looks best and use that as the default.

and then each user can choose which one suits them best.
1) I hope that no matter how the website comes to be colored by default, that there will remain an option to view it in a scheme that will be as easy on the eyes as the current scheme is. I’ve been to some really interesting websites, but just couldn’t deal with reading what ppl there had to say because of the strain caused by the colors chosen for background and text. Some ppl—like me—also have difficulty in the first place with reading anything at all, even that displayed or printed in plain old black and white (perhaps the easiest to look at, though admittedly boring). So I hope that the limitations of such visitors will continue to receive the consideration of the administrators as DriverMadness.net evolves. Because I can’t read worth crap, man, and I’m only willing to try so hard before I give up and look for something easier…like a picture book. LOL!

Boss, is it okay to post new ideas here, as well as reminding you of previously mentioned ones? I can’t find a different thread where it says to do that. If there is such a place, could someone post a link so I can move the following to the appropriate location?

2) One thing that might be useful to have in the No Post Count area is a test thread in which members can experiment with attempts to use code in their posts.

I'm still working on the themes and it might take some time since I'm working on lots of other things at the same time too. It will also be possible to revert back to older themes with the themes option in the profile section.

Ideas belong in here so I can add them to the list :P

Currently it's not necessary to have a Test Thread since users can press the preview button to see what everyone wants, but I have decided to add this section now. But what you can do in there you may not be able to do in another area of the forum so it really has no point, but I added it anyrate just in case someone else can find another way to find it.

yeah that would be cool but u can't just like that put a song on the site u need special licenses

Posted: Sat Jun 23, 2007 11:51 am
by madness
It depends which kind of songs, I don't think any licensed is required to use the unlicensed music and samples of the licensed music when is located on the older "driver: parallel lines" and "driv3r sites".

What about making the two story threads sticky somewhere and putting a commentary thread along with them?

[OR you can read the following, which I had to write for personal reasons, as in: I don’t know how to do anything the short and easy way, and even if I succeed (as I just did above), it just doesn’t feel right, dang it!]
Miller wrote: ...some ideas regarding the One Big Story thread.

Maybe we need a parallel line, so to speak, for the One Big Story thread. You know, like another thread for commentary, so the story thread itself only has story in it and thereby remains more contiguous or whatever that word is...
Daltarin-Elite wrote:…And good idea about leaving up the posting notice and the parallel commentary. It realy would help as so much of the thread so far are people writing that the must get round to writing something or bitching…it is a very confusing story to follow.
Miller wrote:…commentary thread that might accompany the One Big Story thread…I visited a message board where they have a poetry thread, and the administrators ask that comments on poetry submitted be posted in a sort of co-topic thread thing, so the poetry thread itself only contains poetry to read. From the looks of things there, it seems to work well enough for them. It keeps the thread that’s strictly for reading very tidy, while denying no one his or her opinion.
And it does work well for them, but they don’t have as many topics as DriverMadness.net has in the area where the threads for
Stories of New York and One Big Story are located, so visitors have no difficulty finding their commentary thread even though it is not coupled with thread that is strictly for reading only.

Boss, is there a convenient way for you to make it so those two threads are locked together along with a third thread to be used for commentary, so these three threads would always remain side by side in the index? Also, they tend to go for spells without contribution, which kind of allows what are a couple of never out of date topics to fall down to where I think fewer visitors notice them.

And don’t get me wrong. It’s not a vanity thing. I am interested in seeing more added to the story by other users, and I think that would be more likely to occur if the threads remained easy to find, stuck side by side in the index, and also if the story itself was free of commentary, which—as has been proposed—would look better and likely lose less of the reader’s attention if comments were made in an adjacent thread rather than in the midst of the story.

Oh, yah, I know that story originated in the DPL area, but it seems to have evolved beyond that. And I’d hate to miss out on being able to read further contributions to the story by those who may have no interest in DPL, and would therefore not even know the story was there. Such persons might turn out to be very interested in writing more episodes, but we’d never be able to benefit from that interest if they were unaware that there is such a place here for them to show their talent and amuse us.

I don’t want to offer up suggestions about where to stick it—well, not to you and not regarding this topic. I can certainly think of some places where I’d like to tell some ppl just exactly that, to be sure. But you know how you have those sticky topics? Maybe you could just create a spot like that for these three threads to set, offered in a similar way some of the other material has in a redundant fashion. I wouldn’t really be too thrilled to see some sort of flower shop pop up in a place like DriverMadness.net, but maybe we need a creative writing section in the message board forum part of the website.

*[slightly OT]* BTW, speaking of which, I don’t know what “Driver Stories” is supposed to be exactly, but all I get is a blank page when I go to the Driver Stories section at the Driver Crew.com website. Does anything show up on your screen when you guys visit that web page?

Posted: Sat Jun 23, 2007 2:10 pm
by madness
For starters I kind of wonder what DriverCrew is you've talked about it in the past and I look at the site and I don't know how it's related to the Driver series. Maybe because the site wasn't worked when I last checked it but the front page doesn't tell me anything about driver.

There site isn't working probably because PHP is down or something similar along those lines.

[hr]

I like your idea, and I'm going to think about it during the next couple of days and see how I can construct such an area. I was also thinking about creating a static page for the stories when there finished also removing spelling and grammar errors and things like that and then we can have a site called "Driver Stories".

I also suggest anyone with ideas to start up another story because current ones are getting a little over done and I think one of them has finished.

I haven't taken a look at the story threads for a while now so I might be wrong, so I'll check up on this next moment I get in time.

Well I haven't had much time latly to even update the my to do list page so hopefully I'll get to it soon.

There is also a large chance I may not be able to access these forums for an entire 2 weeks which could be slightly annoying not being able to check up on everyone, however on my holiday I hope I can find some sort of internet access somewhere even if it is some sort of internet cafe.
