Ubisoft has officially killed Driver.

Go to Ultimate Driver to watch the video. I am sick and disgusted with Reflections. I can't believe I have waited for 4 god damn f***ing years just to find out ON FOOT ACTION HAS BEEN TAKEN OUT AND REPLACED WITH A PIECE OF f***ing sh*t "SHIFT" FEATURE. I hope this new Driver gets the worst f***ing reviews ever, because I GIVE UP. I am done with Driver. Goodbye, Reflections. Goodbye, Driver. My condolences are with you, and may you rest in peace. The first time's a charm. The 5th f***ing time? Well, that's just...THEY KILLED DRIVER!

At least I know that the money I'm going to be spending on Test Drive Unlimited 2 will be absolutely worth it. You'd think that with 11 years under their belt, they'd actually do something right. Wrong.

No, actually, instead of on-foot action, you become this weird ass flying thing and switch from car to car, and you have a "life" to take over each car. Go to UltimateDriver.co.cc and you'll see what I mean. IT'S f***ing sh*tty.

I hope you're being serious, because it DOES SUCK! I don't care about the licensed cars OR DAMAGE. I want my f***ing on foot action AND THE TRUE MEANING OF DRIVER BACK. Oh wait, it's not coming back, BECAUSE UBISOFT NEVER f***ing LISTENS! Nobody does.

Oh, nobody said I won't continue modding Driver 1. I've put waay too much time in my life to just "quit" on Driver 1. That is the 10/10 game I will never give up. However, I refuse to support the "official" Driver's anymore, simply because they killed it. I'll continue to back the modding, I love modding!

Agreed. The 1st one is perfect. Driver:SF is nothing but a graphics fest.

RIP LOL Even better than the one I was looking at earlier.

Everywhere, bubbles bursting, bursting.

And I was really only coming here to see what Martine would write next.

Oh, what a fool.

I originally though they killed it too but after reading this:
Martin Edmondson wrote:“Film Director is an integral part, for me, of the whole Hollywood car chase experience” says Edmondson. “It wasn’t in Driver 4, it didn’t feature the Film Director, but we’ve brought it back in an easier to use form in Driver: San Francisco to be able to create your own car chase movies.
My faith is restored, sure the "shifting" ability is silly but its a small price to pay for the return of the film director. Plus, the driving mechanics look real good so "shift" may not be so bad after all.

Contradiction much? Driver's true meaning has always been about car chases, and not to be some half-baked GTA clone.

Sigh... it's impossible to please fanboys.

And to re-force my point:

You guys asked for a Driver similar to the original. No stupid on foot sections and all car action. Reflections gave it.
You guys asked for the film director. Reflections gave it.
You guys asked for Tanner. Reflections gave it.
You guys asked for online multiplayer that was scraped from Parallel Lines. Reflections gave it.
You guys wished that Martin to return. He returned.

Seriously, you guys are sounding like some 11 years old kid whining about their diapers being dirty. Reflections gave everything you wanted and this is how you wanted and you guys complain about it.

Oh, and that "hidden message" in the banner is the most childish move that I ever that I've seem. Don't like a game that you didn't even saw a gameplay video? Fine, but don't try to impose your opinion on this website like if it was a fact.

Oh, and please, read this preview from Destructoid: http://www.destructoid.com/e3-10-first- ... 6100.phtml

I'm not the only one who thinks Driver 5 fails, Nick. Driver-Dimension is disappointed too! Emmet from Ultimate Driver is disappointed! We're all disappointed! You know me, I've been an absolute Driver fan up until this point. >_>

Besides, I've been wanting Test Drive Unlimited 2. Oh well, more reason to get it.

WTF? a Porsche 911 GT-2, man that looks like Miami Vice
Even Tobias Jones doesn't look like guy at the picture, Tobias was bald
Image
Image
I like licensed cars, multiplayer, that Tanner, Jericho and Tobias are back, the cockpit view, but i don't like the Shift feature.
About the cars, the should put more ordinary cars, this isn't Dubai, seeing the pics and videos I don't agree seeing in the streets a lot of Zonda's, Bugatti's,Alfa 8C Competizione, Bentley's, and some vintage cars like Challengers and GT 500's, it's rare to see those cars on San Francisco streets, they should put less exotic and luxury cars, and put more ordinary american cars, with a bit of muscle cars.
With the licensed cars i think that it will be less damage on the cars because of the fact that they are licensed.
I don't like that you can't go over pedestrians and you can't get off your car, the Shift feauture looks that Tanner is a kind of ghost, it's weird and i don't like it, they should have done like in Driver 2, to change the car you should get off your car and pick up another car.
Also i miss on foot action, Tanner is a cop and cops do on foot stuff, in my opinion Tanner should have 1 weapon, a pistol, like cops, now he even can't get off of his car.
I'm a little bit dissapointed, hope that they will change things in the game before the release(this fall).
GTA will laugh at Driver series again.
Could you explain Shift in more detail?
Edmondson: It’s a new innovative feature for the game and where we come at it for the game is that Tanner has had a huge crash. That puts him into a coma, and the player realizes Tanner is now in a coma and this element of the game is playing out in his head. But crucially, Tanner doesn’t realize that he’s in a coma, he thinks he’s gained kind of a super ability, and initially, this is something that scares him: being able to float above the world and instantly shift into any character in any car in the world and shift between them rapidly. And that’s the way the gameplay works, shifting rapidly between vehicles and using vehicles as tools. So in taking down a getaway, for example, finding a big heavy vehicle, like an 18-wheeler rig, shifting into the driver of that rig and slamming the rig into the car we were chasing.
In my opinion Tanner gets in coma because of the crash that appears in the trailer

I'm sure that we will see on foot action in the cutscenes (like the first shooting cutscene in Driv3r)
If they put on foot action in cutscenes i will be delighted. Hope that driving physics will be excelent :specialdriver:
Also it isn't obligatory to use Shift feature(you can use when you want) so i'm glad to see Driver 1 and Driver 2 car chases
I agree that i can't say that the game is dissapointing because i didn't play it yet, so i might be wrong with my
words

It's my point of view

Personally, this really brings back the original meaning of Driver, Doom. Sure, it would be nice to have on-foot action, but it's not necessary, and they found the way to jump over it. I will be getting this game.

...but actually look at this sh*t:
It's arcadish and nothing like the original game. What the f*** he's talking about?

Arcadish? Naw. Nothing like the original? Now this proves my point: you people are attached far too much to either on-foot action and the original game to advance. True fans would realize that TIME MARCHES ON, and so do games. Quite frankly, I am VERY excited for the next game, and as is Nick, who realizes the same thing.

The intro at the beginning is the best intro I've ever seen. The trailer is impressive. It shows what 'shift' was made for. The gameplay looked like Midnight Club LA Remix to me. It's not bad after all because the handling is actually true to life in some way, not as hardcore as in Driv3r. The question is whether the physics is accurate.

In the video the driving physics don't look very realistic, it reminds me GRID, more arcade than simulation(sure that they will change it before the release)
Martin said that Driver has gone back to their roots, in some way it does, but in other aspects seems that the game has gone worse.
Also Driver was an old school game so it don't need innovations, it was always inpired by old car chases with muscle cars.
It don't need features like Shift thing.
THEY SHOULD HAVE DONE THE GAME INSPIRING BY DRIVER 1 AND DRIVER 2
I don't like that you can't change your car getting off your car, don't like the Shift thing, reminds me Matrix, when the Agents can get any identity of a police agent. I would like to get off the car and see the world on foot, even without weapons, like Driver 2, in my opinion Driver has lost a bit of his original spirit

Most games have after a bunch of sequels. Hell, this could be the return of Driver.

This video really represents how they kill Driver spirit, look how the guy cut out the figure of Tanner in Driver 1 cover, he kills a classic cover, he needn't do that because in the video he don't uses Tanner's figure, he draw it.
Even the cover was copied of car that appears in a magazine
The cutscene looks poor (talking about the reveal trailer) comparing it to previous Driver games cutscenes
They shouldn't have met with Ubisoft.

That is the dumbest thing you have said yet, Max. It more or less means they wish to bring back the original Driver to it. Get over it, this is hat the series needs. Ubisoft will help the series. Atari was the mistake. My God, you're whiny.

Re: Ubisoft has officially killed Driver.

I agree TK. Ubisoft bad? Atari was far worse. Do you remember Atari marketing Driv3r as a GTA competitor, spend a lot money contracting Hollywood actors and then they just rush the game and deliver the game that almost killed the franchise. Shift unrealistic? Yeah, let's talk about how you could get out of the in middle air in Driver 2. Let's talk about when you flip over your forklift in Driv3r and it blows up while trying to get out. Let's talk about how you could easily blow up a car in Parallel Lines.

Martin himself said that he didn't want on foot controls because it has been done a lot of times. And he even recognizes that adding such feature would be just a copy. And he also said that the there will be an explanation on the story for the "Shift" feature, which I must say, I really liked it.

Can we eat cookies now?

Yes, bring us cookies, Max.

Shift is realistic in this part because he's in A GODDAMN COMA. ANYTHING CAN HAPPEN/

Ubisoft is a great company, and they brought Martin back, who is under new control, and really wishes for the best of the series. Atari does nothing but RIP OFF OTHER GAMES.
Matrix games? Max Payne, really.
Driver? GTA.
Test Drive? Every goddamn driving arcade game ever.

Well, Test Drive is good. Then again, it and Alone in the Dark are the only good series from Atari (albeit Atari rushed the 2008 Alone in the Dark like they did to Driv3r).

Better yet, this company can't even be called "Atari". The real Atari is gone a long time ago. This is just Infogrames that bought the "Atari" name and ruined it.

I mean, it looks alright, just it's probably gonna be another boring graphics fest.
And remove all the goddamn Porsches and Alfa Romeos driving around, and replace them with daily drivers like a few 80's GM/Chrysler items and couple of 90's and 2000's daily drivers.
