I got this in a PM from Madness when he was replying to the PM I sent to him about my ActiveMark version of Driver. I'm just wondering because I have not seen this announced anywhere on this site, why is it going down?

Yeah, it's unfortunate.
It took me so long to upload everything, only to see it disappear a couple of years later. but it really isn't that popular anyways. The entire driver madness network goes through 5 gig of bandwidth a month which isn't much considering there is over 20 gig of downloads.

I know this is probably because I removed the download script.
Due to it's problems and to make things worse I think there is 30 gig of downloads but 20gig is all of ababbs driv3r replays :D.

I did announce the Download Database is shutting down, in the thread where I mentioned driver madness is moving to a new server.

Don't panic too much, the downloads will remain for another 50 days until my hosting account expires.

But feel free to go crazy and download everything if you have the bandwidth (data usage). Damn!, I only get like 500MB internet each month now.

Alternatively if you win the lotto, you can donate to keep the server running :D. Or if your a millionaire and have tones of money to spend.

When driver madness moves, tones of other stuff will be gone too.
Stuff that most of you never knew existed because my topic announcing it is somewhere on these growing forums.

Driver Gadgets
Driver Mirrors
DPL-List

I of course will try and find a way to download everything from the server in case i get an opportunity to re-upload it when hosting gets cheaper again.

Hmm... Which host do you get that with.
I know Bluehost, who I'm with now.
Now offers Unlimited Space and Bandwidth.
Yet the server I'm on has 340 gig space left.
I wonder what happens if you use more than one of their servers of space.
Lets say you upload 1,000 gig :) It wouldn't be possible. Well I don't think they would have 1TB HDD in servers unless there slow 7600rpm things.

If things get better, I still might extend my bluehost account for another year, yet that is highly unlikely.

This will give me an opportunity to re-organize everything.
And keep things simple. So there is just a forum and driverwiki for me to focus on without all these sub-sites to worry about.

But we can all wait and see how things turn out.
My main point of focus will be this community since it has grown fairly well, particularly within the past year.

I've been getting better at designing things, maybe I'll make a template after the next driver game is released and I can make a design under their style, rather than leaving the generic feel on the forums.

But as usual, I'm fairly busy.
and may not get to it!

In the next month, I'm going to try and get another hosting account setup from someone I know who owns a server Unfortunately I'll have to limit my usage as local webspace here in Australia isn't super cheap but at this point of time and exchange rates it'll work out better.

I haven't found a cheap host yet which gives me 500mb a couple of databases and approx 5gig bandwidth.

i use a free host called Sqweebs which has FTP, 20gig space, 300gig bandwidth a month and 99 databases with 3 usernames and it is mySQL, and you can have sub-domains. for the free package your domain is http://www.(whatever you want here).sqweebs.com

and for $4.95 month you can get your own domain unlimited space and bandwidth and unlimited databases and unlimited sub-domains

If you want to copy any downloads to your hosting account.
you don't have to download and re-upload.
You can download or develop a script which downloads the files from another server. If you want more information you can PM me or somethin.

Also note, most free host that offer lots of space set size restrictions.
Like 4MB per file, some hosts only allow a maximum of 100kb a file.

I use Weebly.com for any websites I make.
With the free version you can have two websites, each with the sub-domain .weebly.com. The file size upload limit is 5MB.
With the premium you get:
-Password-protected pages
-Remove or Customize Weebly footer
-10 sites per account
-100 MB file uploads
-Audio player
-Premium Support

Prices:
6 Months $4.58/month
1 Year $3.99/month
2 Years $2.99/month

There is no limit to how many files you upload.

Here's an example of site I made: ultimatecsi.weebly.com

By any chance, Coyote, do you live near Rosa-Meyreder Park, or is that just the ISP?
